Yep, it really would be great if stuff like auction house and party finder would be NA as a whole. I’m still not sure about their thought process on splitting the continent up.

3 hours time zone is something to consider, East and West will have different peak time, 5 ~ 9pm EST, people in the west time zone probably still at work or school.

Luckily I’m able to game on those hours since I’m permanently WFH now.
It’s Virginia.
I get ~13 being on EAST. I get ~76 to West (Cali).
That is not a difference of 20 ping.

I wish some of us Australia/New Zealand players can get that double digits of ping too when playing LA 
Hopefully, but in the end. OCE is fortunate to even be able to access in their region.
Being able to play but “experience” the same quality of the game is a different matter. Amazon Asia Pacific (Sydney) is already there but the decision has not been made… (Yet)

I live in California and I’m having a hard time justifying playing on the US West servers due to all the reasons mentioned in this thread and elsewhere. Sadge.

I wish people would stop using that new world image in their arguments for player population. that does not apply here, it also doesnt show accurate numbers since that game died pretty quickly after launch and has different servers for oce and other regions too. pretty much all of OCE (which is a pretty hefty population) will be going west including anyone from SEA vpning over to lost ark too. its not just east and west coast you should take into considderation.
The west will be absolutely fine, yes naturally there will be a higher player count on east but it wont be 3x the amount unless everyone listens to stoopzz or whatever other big streamer is pushing the ‘west is dead’ agenda. play for ping its that simple and you will be fine.

No matter where you are on NA when u play east u get at least 70 ping or less. This is a multiplier game, I’ll go with the server that has a healthier population, thats a no brainer. Not using new world population as the base of my opinion, its just a proven track that east servers has more players. If you think having 70 ping is a disadvantage then u have no idea how ping advantage works. Most of the time u blame ping it’s just desync. If you ever played league of legends in NA it only has one server which is in Virginia, I get 55 ping playing from Washington state, the farthest from the server, and never had a problem with ping.
The people saying west will be “dead” are just speculating. There are no real indicators that this is the case, and its likely that these posts will lead to a reduction in west servers population, simply because people will be scared to roll west over fear of a dead server. The server will be fine, especially when you account for OCE players coming to west as they will have better ping than east coast. In the future, hopefully regions will be connected. In the meantime, west servers will definitely have a healthy population.

Are auction houses per region? Per server? One auction house for east and one for west or is it just a single auction house for all of NA/EU. I don’t think they have said anything about this, have they?

Agreed! Who you want to play with, and the timezone they are in, IS probably the biggest factor. Personally, I intend to play with a guild from another game (that is switching over to LA). I will try to persuade them to go West Coast as that has the best ping for me. But, in the end, I have no control over the matter.
it has been mentioned so often in x threads… AH is region wide. So NAE / NAW / EU / SA each have one AH.

A shared AH would be awesome though imo, and maybe cross data centre raids / PvP.

Playing LA with 2 digits latency would be like having a “wet dream” for most OCE + Sea players. Most of us will end up with 3 digits latency even with VPN help. My average ping during beta was around 200-250ms playing NA West ( East was around 300ms) now that is a disadvantage when doing serious PVP content.
I am not NA players so I am not sure how the latency will affect NA West from choosing to connect to the East. But it definitely not as bad as us OCE players
Every time I check my ping to the AGS East server it’s about 90-97 not 70. I too live in Washington state. But my ping to us west is 20-25. But maybe a ping just under 100 is fine for lost ark.
