I’m telling you it’s the SAME pictures, LESS THAN 5 MINUTES. And that DPS are just as fast if not FASTER for 24.
Compared to LA, you don’t need to pour tons of resources into one, you can just quick swap for an easy roulette. Oh and let’s talk about pictures when mine are from live and yours are necro threads just googled seconds ago yes.
Absolutely not, I was going on the fact that maining support in LA doesn’t feel impactful and is tedious, and that it might be the big factor in why there is such a shortage. I’ll defer to my original post.
Yes I agree, I’m only talking about representation in terms of proportions, and is why I initially compared it to FFXIV. Because even when there is need for only 2 supports out of 8 players, the shortage is drastic in Lost Ark.
Figures you’re not a healer. I’m not trying to turn support classes into rocket sciences but yes there are rotations and there are shields, various attack buffs and healing. It’s like saying dps is spam spam and some more spam.
Apart from that I believe that the slow paced leveling with support classes compared to dps classes also is a factor when players choose what to play. Support classes don’t really start to shine before they get into tier 3.
And finally maybe one of the most important reasons why support do not get to Valtan are the prices on accessories. “Meh we don’t have any support” QQ - BUT people completely “forget” that when they go and sell their accessories on the auction house and charge the white out of the eyes for support accessories, charging between 5-15k gold per piece. They go into some sort of a frenzy state when they see “desperate salvation” or “expert” (or both).
Only real solution to needing more supports is to make one yourself
I still have one character slot left and that’s probably going to be a bard
Be part of the solution
I’m just saying to someone new to the game it wouldn’t be what they would want to start as a starting class. It isn’t like a traditional MMO where you are pretty useful all along the way.
In LA you are solo pretty much from the start on, so most people who just picked up the game are gonna try a support early, decide it’s a rough way to start out and swap to a dps main.
So now we have this top heavy raid content where you are locked out after your weekly clear and a hundred party finders sitting looking for Supports since Friday afternoon onward. If there wasnt’ an issue, we wouldn’t have run the pool dry a day and a half after release.
There’s no denying that, but the proportion has to be taken into account, and you won’t have trouble filling up a savage group with healers in FFXIV (where it lacks in tanks in fact), while it is supports that are lacking here.
that’s mostly because healers in ffxiv are basicly a neccesity you legit cannot officialy even get in a raid without the right party synergy (2 tank, 4DPS, 2 healers).
but in lost ark you can actually beat the raids without supports by using battle items more often or substituting with gunlancer. and due to it being a action paced combat being a DPS is way more exciting so we’ll have to wait a bit longer for more supports when players make more alts.
The thing is this isn’t WoW or FFXIV, there isn’t hundreds of hours of different dungeons, trials and bosses that you need to make a trinity party for. Yes all MMOs struggle maintain a balance between tank/heal/dps but in LA you only ever needed a DPS up until now.
Honestly if you never tried another class in LA but start up with a support you wouldn’t know that all other classes are faster killers. It’s not like you can’t kill anything with support, it just goes slower. In fact I never had any issues leveling up my bard apart from the Tower.
Since there are way more dps classes than support classes in the game and that it’s still only a smaller percentage of the playerbase who are at Valtan I’m not surprised about the support shortage. Add the horrible honing system and the accessory prices to it and the pieces are coming together.
Well tanks are required too but it is they who are missing and not healers. But it’s definitely off topic. And I agree that dpsing in this game feels more rewarding, but I think it’s primarily due to the lack of feedback when you play support, as I said earlier. I’d like to see how I’m contributing in more meaningful ways.
I don’t know how artist has been received in Korea but from what I heard she can be a decent dps too, can she bring more people to play supports ? Despite the divisive looks.
I love to play support in all games. The problem i have here with my support it’s the lack of real healing. Instead i am insta shielding, giving insta buffs and i need to focus on stagger, counter and do some dps which is not the case in most of the other games . The last 3 are DPS jobs. I need to track the team for healing, who and when to shield someone and give buffs when they are really needed and not to be insta ones. I find playing support here just boring experience.
