Some different point of view - the western market and the instant gratification issue

Good morning everyone, i am about to write something i am not really used to because i tend to stay away from forums in every game i’ve played, mostly because i think its not really an healthy environment.

First of all forgive my english because im italian so it might look weird or incorrect.

I want to address a couple of things regarding Lost Ark and the current situation, will try to not make a wall of text.

I wanna start by saying that this game is extremely polished compared to most of the games that come out nowadays, i’ve been playing games for a very long time, and always been kinda hardcore, its a fun hobby, i play since ffxi times. played xi xiv wow poe, and a myriad of other games i wont list it here.

Lost ark is a very long game which spans into a long iteration of updates, content, patches and developers fixes, on top of that is a very complex game. The problem with modern gaming i think is the instant gratification playstyle where players feels a burden if they dont get instantly what they want, or in a very short period.

Well this is not the kind of game for this kind of players. Its a grindy mmo by design so you shouldnt expect that in the first place.

I see most of the complains about this game from people that did not even bother to play the game, did not research (altho there are countless guides out there), at early days when the game came out people were stuck at t2, totally ignoring doing content and island, complaining about honing and lack of materials when litterally doing islands will throw at you so many chests and enchantment materials that would suffice for gearing up.

Yes amazon games have their own responsability for not introducing into the game some core aspects of the game, like bridge, or guardian challenge (hard mode), and finally releasing argos when it wasnt really the right moment, but yet this not invalidate what i said before about researching and getting materials that is just sitting there waiting for be collected by just playing.

Another point is the fact that it was common knowledge that this game required a massive amount of time, if you take a look at the things that you can do included adventurer tomes, cards collection, rapport, island tokens, collectables, xp level, roster level, alts mechanism, there is so much u need to do, and this just requires time.

People did not know about Tower which is an amazing tool to boost your materials, let me tell you when the game starts and you hit level 50 you would instantly powerpass and create an alt.
Run tower with ur main or with your alt, slowly increasing your higlevel to clear floors, when you complete towers and enter that again with another characters the rewards change, it gives you full enchant materials, the whole 100 floors are a t1 t2 enchant rain drop. Almost no one did this because was easier to complain in the forums.

People did not know about guild shards that can be exchanged for materials at the vendor, neither about pirate coins exchange materials in the city ports, and the island quests that gives you so many materials that is absurd, or azure island quests that litterally gives you more than 90 chests full of materials.

Anyway point being made, amazon has its own fault but no one is perfect, i feel like people anyway are really being crybabies when they do not even put some effort to understand a learn a very deep and complex game. Rapport gives you gold if you lack gold, there are so many NPC that rewards you with gold, gathering herbs and selling them trough market will also give you gold, i can sit here and go on and on on so many things.

One of the strenght of this game is islands quests and rewards, they are so powerful and yet most of people straight ignored it in the first place because they wanted to be high ilvl straight away, wasting gold and resources, not using alts correctly and not bothering to learn how to play the game, this is a years old game with a lot of content explained trough guides and websites.

Its tiring to read the same bs everyday, now people want honing % boosted, this is so wrong in so many aspects that its mind blowing how people are even asking this.
It feels like everyone wants to be max ilvl in 2 weeks of gameplay, and then what? sit in city and quit because then you’d have to wait for the next update since there wont be much to do.

I feel like everyone has its own fault into this situation, amazon could have handled things a bit better, but player base too.

Hopefully the situation will clear up a bit, but still i want to remember you all that this isnt diablo 3, this is a game that requires a lot of effort, activities, time spent and grind in general.
Remove the instant gratification concept from your brain when you play lost ark and you will see that taking things slowly and at your own pace will just get you a better game experience.

peace out.
