Hello! So I’ve read that Estoque is one of the better ships, so I’ve started upgrading it. But now, I need crew. Are there any good crew starters, or should I start trying to farm the best ones?
Use whatever you have available. By the time you actually have the resources to buy the best crew members, sailing will be a dead mechanic for you.
I maxed out a level 10 astray with the best possible crew early, and realized after the fact that I sail maybe once per week, and that’s just to get to the ghost ship, and for which I don’t even use an Astray (Eibern’s Wound).
Work on getting the ghost ship for your weekly, but otherwise sailing is a bit of a red headed stepchild in this game.
the real answer is none of the ship stuff matters literally at all. Once you get to the point where u can even upgrade to a decent level ship you should be on autopilot and have zero reason to ever sail. What exactly do you need ships for? Is that 20k gold from collecting all masterpieces super important? No, it isn’t. I haven’t left the mainland in literally months and have Deathless title, so do whatever you want but looking for an actual MMO experience in this game is insane.
I have Estoque 10lvl with the expensive crewmates.
Starter crewmates for Estoque are barely good and aren’t worth to pay.
3 best crewmates are affordable for “Starter”.
- Legendary Cals
- Purple Pupuring
- Rare (Blue) Tasha
Following 2 later (if you can afford more and upgrade your ship up to 7lvl and then 10lvl)
- Relic Cals
- Relic Pupuring (You can have him earlier, if you have “Tears of the Abyss”)
Yes, two times Cals or two Purpuring but different colours count as seperate member.
What this guy said, but relic cals is easier then leg
I dont remember, how I did to obtain first Relic Cals or Legendary. ![]()
But yeah, if you can obtain Relic Cals over Legendary.
They’re both from boat merchents.
Relic costs pirate coins
Legendary costs whatever special coin the yorn merchant takes
It’s worth it for speed and survivability, there’s not really any ‘end game’ for boats though. Closest is getting Eibern’s Wound with the special crew that give defense bonuses against Ghost Ship events.
You’ll get crew along the way, don’t stress about it. But more speed is always helpful.
Keep an eye out on stronghold merchants. They sell both regular sailors and stronghold-only sailors (if it says “Stronghold” it’s for dispatches only).
The biggest problem with sailing is that you need to do the sailing events to upgrade your boats but the only reason to upgrade your boats is so you can survive long enough to do the sailing events.
It makes no sense at all
There are many options to get pirate coins.
A chest as reward from adventure isle or from Event (Mahaka?), buy a chest full of coins.
Sell Sun Coins for Pirate Coins.
1k Sun Coins, you get 20k Pirate Coins.
I just use whatever gives me more knots. Unless I’m doing a Sea Coop thing
Refer back to my point.
If people can get coins from events and adventure islands, exactly what is the purpose of doing the sailing events or upgrading ships?
No reason.
You only “need” upgraded ships to get more resists to survive a sailing event. Every other reason an upgraded ship serves can be replaced by bifrosts and ocean liners.
Having a fast ship is useful for guild sailing mission, traveling to adventure islands, doing horizontal islands, going to new continents on alts, and the sailing events.
I have a level 10 estoque with the crew the person above suggested. It’s good enough. Astray moves significantly faster. I also have an eiburn wound with the pirate that gives a buff for ghost ship. Also a large qol buff… once per week.
Having a slow ship sucks, realistically you should probably get level 7 estoque and pick up cals & pupuring.
Well the best ones are Relic Pur, Relic Cals, Legendary Cals, Legendary Pur and rare Tasha.
Another good combination is Relic Pur, Legendary Cal, Epic Cal, Epic Pur and rare Tasha.
Tasha you can get from slime island but it’s a pain to farm it out. You can buy Uncommon Tasha from wavestrand port which is almost just as good. The rest you can just buy from pirate coins. I’d say it’s worth upgrading your ship to +10 and getting the crew members for it.
It is true that you will not use it much later on but I think it’s still really really good to have. Because you will do some adventure island everyday and a few times I accidentally went with Eiben’s wound and it just reminded me how much it sucks to have a low level ship. It’s just so terribly slow.
I’d also buy the ship skin for blue crystals (costs 420) Hermida’s song. It will automatically use fast sailing when you auto route so you don’t have to push spacebar. Will also give you 12 extra resistance points - I’d put most of these on tempest and siren/dead.
Apparently none of these people that responded to you ever do adventure islands or any horizontal content. Not the people you want to take advice from.
As for your question. There really are not any decent starter sailors… maybe go after Tasha from slime island since she is a good all-rounder. I would just get whatever you can to fill the slots and keep upgrading your ship. Not sure if you have run across this site for the Estoque but it explains everything and what you should be shooting for. Hope this helps.
The purpose of Sailing Event is getting key for Sea Portal.
If you want to collect masterpieces and treasure map collectibles, you need to do sailing event.
Sometimes, you get 2k - 10k gold from a map (which isn’t collectible, more like similiar to map from Chaos Portal)
Just stack 20 keys up and then go to Portal, there you get 2-3 treasure maps on average for exchange. The rest is just Coins.
lol
If you throw 20 keys for exchange at once, the chance is greater to get. Why 20? It’s a limit per entry.
Build for resists not for speed as the ships become useless for anything other than co-op sailing (which you’ll be grinding forever for completion) and arguably the ghost ship.
