NAE has a large DPS shortage. I haven’t even bothered to run my 2 supports for anything this week after seeing so many groups with 2 supports and no DPS waiting forever.
Also you missed the point. The OC was trying to claim releasing another support class won’t help the support shortage. That made no sense and was so wrong the reverse happened.

Not a DPS shortage.
There’s just 9000 lobbies with two supports in it that are on item level and 3x3 with their gems and relic set looking like Skittles with all these different colors.
It’s not the same thing.
4x4 is free with level 5 cd gems from the hyper express.
Sups only need 3x3 to be highly effective in raids and level 5 cd gems is adequate on all swift sups.

You ever looked at paladin cooldowns, by the way? You know. The damage buffs? The ones that are important. They increase your party’s damage. They make them hit harder.
The ones that take a long time to come off cooldown, even with max swiftness.

Paladin cooldowns are extremely high. You said they only need 3x3 to be highly effective. That’s simply not the case with paladins. Just because you have no idea where the ceiling is doesn’t mean it’s close to the floor.
It’s just cheapo copium, man. It’s the same reason people think their level 7 gems are good on their DPS. It’s cheapo copium everywhere.

Expert, Blessing, and Awakening. Can you tell me how Vital point + drops of ether is anything but a luxury? Wut? You need it to clear G5 brel otherwise wipe or what?
1700 Swift with 35% CD with level 5 gems at 10% CD is more than adequate for BREL NORMAL. You can rotate DPS buff off each other to keep high uptime and time your shield, awakening, and heals by knowing mechs and map awareness.

to be completely honest you cant keep attack buff with lvl 5 gems and 1700 swift. I have 1800 swift and lvl 7 gem on one of attack buffs and I still have something under second of downtime. every dps have full lvl 7 gems on brel so I dont see a reason why you cant have the 3 most important ones at least when you already invested 200k golds just into honing to be brel hard ready.
for pally specifically you should always have at least blessed aura, expert, awakening, vital point setup while goin into brel hard. if someone would not have vital point I will probably gatekeep because brel hard is really heavy on staggers.

You said highly effective. This isn’t a confessional about bad gear. It’s just not accurate. You’ll have garbage uptime. You’ll never sniff radiant. Period.

To me (read: good support player), the main attraction of Vital Point and Drops of Ether would be increased party DPS. Vital allows you to bring dark grenades to just about everything, and Drops can low-key pop off during any burst phase.
Just because people anecdotally say you don’t need it doesn’t mean you are anywhere near the ceiling.
Raids can be cleared with literally no gems. We’re talking about “highly effective.”
This implies buffing your DPS as much as possible, not “I don’t need it” cheapo copium. It’s literally a handful of gold to run it compared to what you would make on a weekly basis. The only excuse for cheaping out is that you don’t care because of how uneducated people are about how supports actually work and what they can do, so nobody holds you to any standard.
I could kill Brelshaza with no accessories or gems on my supports. Why would I troll my party that way?
If your goal is to just show up and go, “I think I’ll cast this now,” and press buttons, fine. But you’re referencing a ceiling that has to do with high level cooldown gems, engravings and battle items.
