I would also ask have you run any content on a proper dps? its not that you can’t. But why take a 15-20 second fight and turn it into a 4.5 minute struggle. The difference is that huge. I saw a video on a dps bard so I will respec since I’m invested in my bard.
But I legit am frustrated. The progress is super slow. Now the benefit would be to playing in the groups for guardians, even chaos dungeon and abyss dungeons/raids.
Problem is, after I made this post, the next 5 chaos dungeons I had, had 2-3 bards in ever group for the next 15-20 minutes. Totally new random groups, each time flooded with bards and paladins. Maybe throw in a gunslinger just to make sure we barely progress.
My OP wasn’t that you 100% can’t progress, its telling people consider first. It’s tedious and slow and at least in t1 and t2 its flooded with support alts at. It’s not pure chance that i’m queing random and pairing with at least 1 other bard 90% of time. And often ending up with 3 supports.
I can’t argue with supports past 1370, I’m only 1355 on main.
I will say, After this post, i got tripple supports in multiple chaos dungeon runs. It’s not pure chance, t2 is flooding with supports. Will they make it to 1370? No idea, I dont feel like taking mine there. Thats for sure.
i play Support main.
biggest tip to make your life easier: DON’T use matchmaking.
Always use Partyfinder… if you create a group “SUP needs 3 DPS” you can pick them out yourself, and they will overrun you with applications.
works perfect, always perfect groups.
I play pala main and 3 bards as alt and i do not have any problems. You know you can create a premade skill and gear setup for dps and support roles? You can easily clear the highest t2 bosses solo as bard because i am doing them in around ~7m soloing atm.
Also use the lfg tool or join a tight clan as i do the runs in under 2m then.
I don’t know how I feel about support currently, as a lot of the content right now is just farming, but when legion raids come out, I can see myself switching to artist as my main. I typically prefer support for progression, and high-tier content.
I cleared tower on my main first which was bard. She’s more than capable of clearing it. A few floors are harder but some are easier cuz you can just heal and shield through annoying stuff instead of learning it lol. Make sure you mostly take damage skills, sprinkle in a guardian tune, and have desperate salvation maxed.
Use party finder on support almost always imo for boss rush and cube. You’ll just have a better life.
I did the same in t3. There are no supports in t3 so being a pally main is great in t3. What classes do you cherry pick first for group finder? Zerkers / sorc / db right?
Took me 5 hours to clear Fatespire from Floor 1 - 50 at ilv 1090.
Biggest issue Bard has is the lack of DPS to burn down the boss quickly, so you have to survive the full onslaught.
depends… if you need high stagger, i prefer zerker / arty
but i really don’t mind the classes, i ALWAYS look at engravings… it baffles me how many players don’t know what a “build” is …
worst i saw, only lvl 2 defense reduction, no positive engravings.
so if you can cherry pick as a support, don’t mind the class, check the engravings!
don’t even check if they are perfect for the build, check if anything is there…
Is this an issue in KR/RU too? I mean will it ever be addressed, having 2-4 supports in a party? Even if it increases their queue a little I assume they would prefer being the only support? And it’s only gonna get worse when Artist comes out if this queue system remains as is.
When solo for things like Chaos Dungeon, Bard complete deletes volumes of monsters without much issue / don’t really feel like I’m at much of a disadvantage to my DPS classes. However for Multi-HP bar Bosses is a totally different story… Bard feels like special training mode that lets you see every single mechanic possible.
That said I have a completely different experience encountering other supports… I can’t even think of a time where a party was filled with more than one support (myself in this case). Probably the worst case I’ve encountered was entering a Guardian Raid at minimum ilvl, both “DPS” classes felt the need to inspect the floor multiple times immediately, and then it was an excruciating process of Support Bard + Gunlancer having to duo the fight from like 75% HP remaining.
bard is pretty fun except do not clear fatespire 50 at 1100 as bard that actually sucked the life out of me for 2 days straight. even more so do not clear it at 1040. it might be doable with lvl7 gems and above but otherwise i would not recommend.
We will have shortage on Main support char on end game for sure, most of you only park a healer on alt. Organized veteran guilds has already begun filtering its members to form a health party composition to prog.
I can’t say for other region, but based on my experience in JP : Bard is treated like a queen and will be welcomed with red carpet.
Right now, in NA west People are shouting all night to fill the healer slot on Argos P3.
On clown legion raid healer is mandatory, you will need 1 healer per 3 DPS player.
If you are not a main healer, better get out there and start finding your static healer bro / sister to progress or prepare to get trapped and waste your battle items
