Stop Defending Pheons

Lol what you wrote makes absolutely no sense. There isn’t unlimited trading already and it doesn’t cost any resources (gear and jewelry all have trade limits on them). I never said you need to trade to play the game. I never said Pheons were P2W. I never said the devs shouldn’t make money.

My point is again, I have seen quite a few people and streamers defend pheons saying they are in the game to prevent market manipulation. That just isn’t true. The game has multiple market manipulation prevention systems already. If pheons were removed from the game nothing would change. They are in the game as a revenue stream.

I’m fine with some kind of extra cost on AH, but current state of things is just not right.

I had 0 pheons and I saw a cheap, perfect purple T3 necklace for my setup. 500g only.

Had to spend 900g to get 10 pheons via crystals, so I effectively paid for 1400g for it, which is still not that much considering it’s perfect for my setup, but absolutely ridiculous.

It should be 1 pheon per transaction, not damn 8 or 9 for sub-1k items.

They should just make it easier to get pheons and maybe reduce the amount needed from the market also below t3 shouldn’t really cost pheons imo. T2 below content will soon be irrelevant plus they could do more events giving pheons.

This thread

I don’t understand why pheons exist.

I will make it clear

You have 6 pieces of gear + 2 rings + 2 earrings + 1 neckalce + 1 ability stone.

If you want to tweak your alt in tier 3 gear it will cost you phaton.

As the game is designed that limits gear trading between players.

You could have gotten all those from the AH, and it will STILL cost you phaton to do.

The trade limit stops you from reselling that specific gear. Phanton is designed to limit total gear trading.

They are 2 different systems.

Unpopular opinion, I don’t mind pheons.

It prevents people from controlling the AH by buying and selling thousands of items like they do in WoW

Pheon would be fine if it was applied only on skins.

Not defending pheons, they’re a trash system for the normal players and made so they are guaranteed to make money even from 3rd part RMT users.

So does posting limits and caps on how many times something can be resold. There is no reason for AGS/SGR to monetize their market control item other then to make money. The systems would still work just fine without the pheons in place.

So what you are saying is they only exsist to supplement their revenue

Edit: when you said limit you should have said charge because it is not limiting anything if anyone can pay real money for that resource. If the pheons were there to limit trading then there would be a finite number of them.

I’ll do you one better.

Flares. Right? Why isn’t the boss just on the map. “Because Monster Hunter”. I’m sure.

Grenades. Why not just have skills with high enough stagger (or destruction) such that bringing stagger (destruction) people who time their cooldown are sufficient? Imagine stagger classes being as sought after as Bards or Paladins?

Why are there two different kinds of health potions in the game? How arbitrary as that?

I mean out of all the arbitrary time / resource sinks in the game, I’m surprised pheons is the breaking point (but then I didn’t really do much on the AH) but yeah.

Stop spam buying off the auction house it’s not a problem at all. Only thing I don’t like is pheon cost when Im trying to send items from my main to my t3 alts. Plus the game gives you a lot of free pheons, just have to be smart about how you use them, which is totally fair.

Potions are in the game so players have a way to heal. Can you buy potions with real money? Yes but potions were created and implemented in the game so a player can heal themselves.

My point of this thread is I see people acting like, believing whatever you want to call it that Pheons are something good that the devs put in the game to help players. I am saying that is not true and the real reason they exsist is to make the game money.

OK but why are there TWO TYPES of health potions in the game? One that can easily be bought from a vendor for silver, and one that you need to either spend tons of time picking flowers for or always use Mari’s shop to get the mats?

Same principle. Imagine how much less confusing the game would be for new players if the same health potions they used throughout questing could be used for all aspects of the game.

Just be clear once again. I don’t really care…I mean I do and I think the Pheon system is a little overboard but I didn’t and will not quit the game over it. I have just noticed that people are spreading what I believe to be false information.

I agree two different potions is confusing for new players and not needed but regardless of how many types there are they exist so players have a way to heal. Pheons only exist to make money.

Right and I’m not defending pheons. This isn’t even whataboutism. I’m just saying pheons are obnoxious AND there’s a common thread with them and the way that consumables work in this game that all seems to stem from that same principle (and probably contributed more to my quitting than the honing issues to be honest - I can forgive a lot, but I hate feeling like my time is nickeled and dimed).

All these entitled F2P threads are disgusting
You can’t play this game for free if they dont generate revenue

You get pheon from trading in-game gold to crystal then from crystal to pheon. At no point does the game restrict you to only spending real money to buy pheon.

From a macroeconomics perspective it just means gear trade limit puts pressure on the supply side while pheon on the bids puts pressure on the demand side. So that the idea is to make the gear supply and demand come from the player base instead of another third-party influence plus regulating the economy to achieve a balance of in-game gold value (controls inflation). However gold bots, gold sellers, and players who engage with them in RMT destroy this balance since RMT is not an organic in-game activity.
