Armchair devs are the greatest I tell you what.
A large part of releasing this build is that it is a “base” requirement for the server merges that are slated for the end of the month, so it is necessary to get it integrated in the game so that we can make progress towards those merges.
Why do you make it sound like a “live or die” kind of situation, although that is probably not too far fetched, is it?
thanks for the clarification on that, I think that’s what most people were looking for. TLDR, not getting this patch in sets back major progress on other goals down the line
This is hugely helpful info that could have helped alleviate some of the anger from people as I mentioned in my post about communication Roxx. That makes absolutely perfect sense that it would take a bit longer than normal and could have unforeseen issues. Also makes it clear why its kinda important for it to happen.
You are causing yourself more stress by not having someone put all of this valuable info in the main posts. Crack a whip at someone. ![]()
Thx for the clarification Roxx. a lot of people dont understand the vast majority of complexities behind game development, especially with MMOs. I myself don’t even pretend to know either however I do understand the amount of effort it takes. thanks a million for being transparent and keeping us posted!
Arent you guys concerned the merge would cause server instabilities which could ruin peoples progression with the new raid? Releasing the merge on the same day we prog raids is kind off…bad.
pior esses gringo bosta mimado falanndo merda eles nem sabe oq passamos aqui.
This DEFINITELY should have been mentioned in the original post explaining the delay. We’re not entitled to know every little detail of what and why something happened, but it would have saved a lot of people a lot of frustration and heartache. Myself included.
Heartache for what bro? Lol
Thank you for waste a national holiday with this failure.
A whole day playing turn into nothingness.
Can we please get clarification if AGS/SG intends to do server merges on the next raid content patch release? Cause that is something that should never happen. It sounds like the game is in total freefall right now. And not talking about players’ numbers. Just the sheer incompetence of devs and publishers that thinks it should be even in the same month.
how about not shitting on EU and doing this on night and not on 12.30-00.00…we lost a fucking day because of this shit company…and guess what company lost lots of legit players today!?
Thank you for the clarification. Apologies for the vitriol, I want to clarify this frustration is largely directed at whoever decided the release schedule has to be so strict as to disallow delaying patches in the event of catastrophic build failure. I am concerned for the retention of players who have not been able to feed their pets for over 12 hours now, basically the entire day for EU friends.
I hope everyone is able to weather the backlash and take whatever steps are deemed necessary to prevent this situation in the future.
P.S. Please send 20 bound legendary engraving selection chests to every player, thanks for your consideration
I guess that someone needs to teach the Jr. Developers that the new features need to be tested 1 or 2 weeks before the launch, not 1-day xD. You have a lot of experienced professionals in AWS, just do a call in the neighbor’s office and ask for a few tips. lol
Actually, if they never said when the servers are “expected” to be up, everything should be fine, but nope, clearly something is wrong internally or out of control that they keep on pushing it further and further
That sounds totally like all those characters that ‘‘merged’’ into the new servers are long gone and they are trying to undo it and try again or smt like that, scary
How do I touch grass? Need tutorial
Shoulda changed the topic title
They took OP literally
Why does AGS not use Blue Green deployment practices?
- Standup a new set of identical servers (green) the day before the scheduled patch
- Deploy the new build to the new green servers
- Run all the tests needed/fix any bugs and confirm the new build is working ahead of time
- When scheduled maintenance time occurs, just switch the dns hosts/load balancers to point to the IPs of the new servers (they become the new go-live servers a.k.a the blue servers)
- Tear down the old servers after successful launch of the new build is confirmed
This would allow you guys to solve all these issues the day before and have the new build tested and ready to go and they could simply flip over to the new servers within minutes hypothetically.
