When Lost Ark launches in early 2022, the new Sorceress class will be available to players. The Sorceress will replace the previously included Summoner class in our starting class line-up, and the Summoner will instead come to Arkesia at a later date.
Summoner class was advertised as an available class at launch when pre-orders for Founders Pack went up for purchase so I believe this should NOT be acceptable.
Amazon, can you please give us a proper explanation for why Summoner was removed?@Roxx
I have the right to complain about the game I care about and which I pre-ordered for 100€ and I will not stop just because a **** like you tells me to.
I was not going to main or even play Summoner class but removing the class right before the release without a proper explanation is just such a horrible move from Amazon I have to share my thoughts.
It truly is. The players yet again get screwed over by Amazon who has taken it upon themselves to decide what the NA/EU version can have and not have without asking the players whether we wanted Sorceress at the expense of Summoner for launch.
Classes should never, ever be removed from an MMO… especially one that is already finished and is simply being localized/translated from Korean to English. This is Amazon yet again dictating to the players what they can and cannot have in the NA/EU version of Lost Ark. There was already discontent about Destroyer and Arcana missing from launch but many players accepted that because we know that they are being reworked in Korea and that is the most likely reason for the delay. However Summoner is different… it was already in the game during alpha and beta… it was already tested and localized… a lot of players enjoyed the class and its playstyle. And now Amazon has ripped that away from players and told those who want to main Summoner “sorry but no… you will have to wait your turn to play the class you like since we cannot have both Summoner and Sorceress in the game together at launch for reasons”.
When I first heard about Lost Ark I immediately fell in love with the Summoner class… I’ve waiting for years only for Summoner to be delayed… I’m so sad right now, it’s my only favorite class in the game.
Well, I did not plan to play a Summoner but I don’t understand this horrible decision by Amazon AT ALL. I know there are many players who want to play Sorceress but there are thousands of players who wanted to main Summoner.
What is next? Are we going to see Berserker removed so we can have Destroyer at release?
They can’t just remove a class that was advertised to be on release and was there on the official site of the game for people to check out. They can’t just decide out of nowhere to just replace one class for an other like that. They can add more if they want or not add or replace anything till later patches but replacing or removing is just unacceptable and it doesn’t make sense. I can’t see why someone would defend this behavior.
At first i thought it was a bug and i was not worried about it… so tell since when do bad decisions that look like bugs are good decisions to make?

This is the biggest issue… Amazon is now operating under false advertising and pretense here. At the time that I (and probably many others) pre-ordered our Founder’s Pack we were told that Summoner would be one of the available classes at launch. And that has been the case for months since we have the Founder’s Pack showcase that showed off the Summoner’s Platinum Avatar Outfit (along with all the others). But now we come to December only to find out that Summoner has been removed as an available class at launch in favor of Sorceress.
It’s not normal that they think "we give the community sorceress and they will be happy so we can just remove summoner as a cost of giving them sorceress…
To be fair though… Summoner is only removed temporarily. But your point still stands that Amazon has removed something that quite a few people do care about and wanted at launch. The reason there is not so much outrage at Destroyer and Arcana missing is because they were never in the alpha or beta and we never had any indiciation that they would be there for launch. Summoner is completely different… it’s been there for alpha and beta and was advertised as one of the core launch classes only to be ripped away from us in favor of the new shiny from Korea.
Even if there was a limit for classes, contracts can always be updated. By this logic, the game should have been released in Fall 2021 because it was in the original contract.
If Amazon is truly limited in how many classes they are allowed to release on day one then they should have kept Summoner and left Sorceress for later. They already did the localization for Summoner and all her class abilities. But now that they have removed that and added Sorceress they have to spend the time localizing all her abilities. It’s time and resources spent and probably a contributing factor to why Lost Ark was delayed to an Early 2022 launch.
