Update from OP, since this Thread is getting some attention again:
With 5x3 - lvl 9 maelstrom - lvl 7 dmg gems - full relic - lvl 3/4 tripods + wealth runes my damage is finally close to surge-blades.
(I know it’s some investment, but if you’ve done it, it’s MVP city from now on.)
If i had a penny for every time i had friends blades screaming gods and evils in discord whenever clown/vykas/any boss phases/mechs outta the surge id be rich.
It s a very risk/reward class. You either end up top dog or annhilator. Which means aside few fights the class works right.
It has to be excluded from the count things like exotic oneshot boss builds or kunge statistics (kunge is surge paradise) given it takes away most of dps from any class using raid captain while keeping all engr for surge and re working.
atleast in random partys if you have a premade support who gives a dmg buff just at the right time nothing can beat a good surge deathblade if all dps classes have equal skill level.
Ever since I properly geared my Surge DB she feels very good to play. I no longer care if a surge misses/doesn’t crit because its so easy to build the stacks back up. As long as I have Dark Axel and knowledge of patterns i can land the one back attack that matters. In that sense she feels very forgiving compared to RE.
It can be annoying when you’re stop-and-go with mechs because sometimes you can’t build full stacks but that’s nothing a bit of foresight can’t fix. If you play Soulfist, you know messing up your Hype window is way worse
I think deathblow striker would outperform surge blade. I also can see shock scrapper up there.
But that also depends on the content. It’s all so subjective.
it allways depends on the conten artillerist can also deal a huge amount of demage if you know what mecha and atacks you can chesse with shield and barrage mode and what not but also lose your main burst if the boss just jumps out of range(or runs faster than your lasers moves)
but if i look at the max potential surge death blade is the number 1 as far as i know and scrapper and stiker close behing the class even the hammer man can deal brutal amount off dmg but well doing this dmg on real fight is another story.
well burst classes like this allways have the problem that they need to learn the boss pattern to deal there huge amount of dmg (and that the boss dosent troll nothing makes me more angry than the clown when he jumps away every 2 sec) compared to non burst classes where in the worst case you only miss 1 dmg skill and not your main burst skill you charged with the last few atacks.
To be honest, every class can mvp at any time at raid. This is no reliable comparison and has nothing to say at all. Can send you the same screenshots other way around too.
i was replying to the guy who said “ive never seen a surge blade mvp in clown” and you getting mvp or not depends alot on the group you play on, its not the same getting mvp in a tryhard group than in a pug with bad players. but if skill is similar then the class does have alot to do. i have never lost mvp to shadowhunters for example, and i play with some very decent ones
the jump from RE to Surge is like jumping from brainless mayhem to zerk technique. piano classes are the easiest and could arguably be the most fun. My advice for anyone who wanna make a DB if u wanna have chill easy run go RE if u wanna see big numbers go surge and pray that legion raids bosses from vykass g1 and above don’t go out of map or teleport to the end of the map every 2 sec and u will have fun XD
well its subjective I guess. personally I tried burst and spam builds in zerk, db and soulfist piano is so easy there is no comparison XD. You can turn your brain off and just spam skills no need to check boss hp to turn off identity or surge early before he go or save the zerk gauge and wait because the boss will start mech soon.
