Is it worth putting damage related tree skills on a surge DB alt? Or should I just put orb generating tree skills and call it a day?
soul absorber + blitz rush are like ~30% of your rotations damage so you should aim to max the damage tripods on those 2
for the rest just get orb generating tripods and the dark order one on maelstrom, maybe the movement tripods on dark axel / spincutter for convenience

Well you should put also Wind Cut & Spin Cutter tripods since they reduce pheromonal cooldown. And Blitz Rush & Soul Absorber are the hardest hitters outside of Surge. I don’t know about your budget but if it is possible you should do all “bis” tripods max before patch.
