Same time every day I lose internet for about 10s. EVERY time before the last 2 days the game would completely close. I noticed it put me to the server select screen yesterday and thought it was maybe just some weird one time thing b/c I was switching characters when it happened. But today it happened AGAIN. So I think it is an actual change they did. This is the best change they have done if it is true. Thank you so much!
Thanks @Centeotl for bringing this thread into the Support forum where I have a chance to see it (I usually just hang out in the support area)
Really nice post @Glumpo, it’s really good to see someone actually saying, “Thank You”. It doesn’t happen enough.
I don’t think your actually posting about a problem you would like some help with but rather just being nice about a change you have noticed.
If you do actually want any help with an issue you may be having then please do respond and we will all try to help you out as best we can.
Just DC’d and game closed. Didn’t go to server select screen.
Do you know if some change was done? I just assumed it was b/c I had never had it send me to server select screen before. I DC more or less daily so for it to happen 2 days in a row seemed like too much of a coincidence.
Hello @Glumpo and thank you @Centeotl for moving this over as well as @dashgoor for your input and @mick437 for your always welcome willingness to help,
I am sorry to hear about your disconnects thus far. I see your post as involving two main topics so let me address it accordingly.
First, in regards to the game sending disconnects to the server select screen rather than closing out entirely… We have not been notified of this becoming a standard feature and depending on the error you are getting the game may indeed crash or redirect, so this is of utmost importance for us to accurately review your scenario. If you would like to propose this as a standard form of function, I suggest doing so in the Feedback section of the forums or you can also submit your valuable feedback by filing a web ticket here.
Second, regarding the disconnections or game crashes you are experiencing, we can provide several troubleshooting steps that may alleviate it for you but in order to do so will need more information about what is happening when you do experience them.
I’ll keep an eye on this thread for your answers and will gladly assist where I can on this.
EDIT: I see you responded with the error message while I was typing out my answer. This one has been addressed with the possible work around for it and has been posted here:
We’ve posted some troubleshooting steps on our official site as well:
Please give these troubleshooting steps a try and do not hesitate adding your details in the main thread quoted above if the steps do not clear it for you.
That’s alright @Glumpo, let’s see if we can arrive at a resolution.
Just re-reading the thread something you mention in the opening post grabbed my attention.
This while not nice is an interesting development.
Aside from the obvious symptoms on the computer (being disconnected from the game) did you notice and change to the lights on your modem ?
If you did notice a change could you please detail what lights changed ?
If you didn’t notice this change today and given you said this happens every day could you please try to check for any change on the next time this happens.
If this is something that happens regularly at a specific time of day there could be something happening locally to you.
If you don’t mind I would like to find out more about the manner in which you connect to the internet.
Is this a wired or WiFi connection you are using ?
Are you the only person that has a connection on your network ?
(Not your ISP’s customers, there would be many but rather are you the only person that uses the modem or are there other users)
Are there any automated things that happen on the network ?
( cloud backups, operating system updates, maybe even home automation! )
Oh hey I should also mention that if you do not feel comfortable posting answers to any of the questions I have asked then that is perfectly okay, no problems. I understand as this is a public forum and you may want to keep some information away from the public arena.
If your worried about privacy at all then I think the best thing would be to do as @Fenrirskoll has mentioned and open a support ticket with Amazon, that will be kept away from the public forum here.
Good Luck and please let us know if you feel okay about it
Just unplug your internet cable while playing and the message you see if what I am seeing.
I’m disconnecting b/c my internet goes out for like 10s every day when my modem gets a new dynamic IP address or something. Not really sure why. It’s on my end though and unrelated to specifically Lost Ark.
I know in other games I just lag for those 10s then it goes back to normal. In Lost Ark it always closes the game. I know i’ve seen many many threads about this from other players and figured a change was put in to send us to the server select screen to save the time to re-launch the game. Maybe that isn’t possible though. I’m sure SG has heard of these issues by now.
I don’t think this is worth you time tbh. It isn’t on your end. Don’t read this stuff if you don’t want to. But if you are curious for some reason here you go.
Wired connection when playing Lost Ark. My PC does not have a wifi adaptor. Every device in my home loses internet for the 10s. Wifi also drops for 10s.
Others use the internet from the same modem. This has happened through multiple modems over the past 5 years. It happens with low traffic and high traffic. It isn’t anything to do with someone using all the bandwidth or something like that. It’s a private connection so some random person nearby isn’t using it.
As far as automated things I’m not sure what is relevant. The connection drops for like 1-6 days at the same time then it will change to another random time and happen at that time for 1-6 days in a row. I don’t think there are any cloud backups or operating system updates. We have nest cameras, various lights, google home’s and a door lock all connected to the wifi on the same connection. I don’t think they are related to it.
I have no damn clue what it is and have spent too many hours trying to figure it out. I almost think it isn’t on my end and is something happening outside my house. When we got a new modem and it still kept happening I really started to think this. The only test I have left is to directly wire to the wall and see if it still happens. If it does then I will know it isn’t on my end and I doubt my ISP will do anything. So I just live with it. It isn’t too bad for most games where players just run in place for 10s then things go back to normal. But in Lost Ark my game closes and I need to relaunch it for 5+mins then lose my chaos dungeon or raid or w/e.
Thank you for following up on this thread. From the disconnection perspective, it almost certainly is a scheduled “something” that is either resetting the connection or taking up too much bandwidth and kicking you out. What that may be, would require some more testing, pretty much.
As far as the game disconnecting to server or character select instead of closing completely out, that does sound like a very good feature to add as it would save time in reconnecting. I do suggest posting the idea to the feedback forums as it may come in handy some day.
Hey @Glumpo that’s cool and thank you for taking the time to make a nice response.
I will explain a little further as to some of the things I said and why.
I am here, mostly in the support forums because I have a work history in support having worked for a computer help desk for several years and being a support technician visiting clients to resolve their issues.
I do find the sort of problems that get presented interesting.
I tend not to post in general forums because I really do not appreciate the manner in which people speak to one another and I really have to hold myself back or I will say some quite pointed things about those not so polite comments.
As to the Automated thing and it’s relevance. That was more of a reference to a thread I was in a couple of days ago where a user made reference to his home automation being part of the reason he would not consider some of the options I presented and in the end he became quite obstinate. I don’t actually think in your case any automation you have set up is pertinent so I am sorry for any confusion I caused with that.
Given that this is a long standing issue for you and you have seen key pieces of the network swapped out (the modem) I get the feeling that there isn’t much more that could be at fault on your end.
As far as the test you mention of connecting a network cable directly into the wall that really depends on how the internet is delivered to your house. I am not sure how it works where you are but I will explain how mine works.
I live in Australia and here we have a National Broadband Network (NBN) and are supplied a NBN box from the company (oddly called NBN co.). We connect the NBN box to the wall and hang our modem off of that, then the network cables and so on from the modem as usual.
With the type of network we have here in Australia I would not be connecting a network cable to the wall.
I actually have a Fibre To Curb. (FTC) connection where the entry point into my home is still done with a copper pair and terminated in a RJ11 connector and network connectors are RF45 so physically the cable would not plug in.
It might be something you could ask a neighbour if you felt comfortable enough.
If you have a neighbour that you get on well enough with you might ask them if they have the internet and if they have any similar issues. Maybe even discuss which Internet Service provider ( ISP ) they use.
If you could confirm that :
your neighbour has a similar disconnection issue.
your neighbour is using the same ISP.
That might be something interesting to check as time permits and if you felt inclined.
If you can find that all indications point to an ISP issue then having it effect more people would add weight to the issue if you chose to highlight it with your ISP.
Again, thank you for your respectful discourse.
Good Luck
Already tried those and nothing was the solution for the problem
I share the symptoms with many other people:
lag up to disconnect on specific points (example: Oreha climbing before clown)
lag up to disconnect after wipes in raids
lag on typing test Vykas Gate3 (not always, but often), second test appears for 0.1 sec…)
Don’t know if others have the same, but something I see often after wipes too, that one or more partymembers are still shown death on my group screen despite they stand next to me. Takes up to a minute till it actualises again.
Its some problem with data receiving from game server. I still send data out (for example last time I know that I will disconnect, I pressed “stop raid” on purpose. I did not see the vote but people told me, they see it).
I offer 100k gold for anybody able to solve the dam disconnect problems…
Thank you for following up on this topic. Please note the troubleshooting offered in this thread is not exhaustive, as there are numerous other factors that can be affecting your connection. Please clarify if you are running into any specific error message when your disconnections occur and we will gladly look into it further.
Alternatley, you can have our tech team look into your logs and follow up directly with other possibly sensitive account information that is best not posted on the forums so it would be better if you could please create a web ticket by going to Contact Us | Amazon Games.
Please, do not hesitate reaching out to live support to have this looked into.
