The Dye System/UI needs a massive overhaul

The dye UI is so restrictive that it seems intentionally broken to suck gold/blue crystals out of the player. As BC prices continue to rise and we get access to more of the dyeable costumes from KR, this system really needs a second look from SG.

  1. There is no way to preview multiple pieces at the same time before committing a change.
  2. There is no way to preview the dye in the regular game lighting before committing a change.
  3. The dye wheel is too small for minor changes so most color prepping needs to be done outside the game and then hex code copied in.
  4. The base color hex codes for a costume item are not provided and non-dyed components are zeroed out to white, so it is nearly impossible to match dyeable pieces to non-dyeable pieces or to recreate a color on a dyeable piece that you want to keep.
  5. Shine values of only 0/50/100 are embarassingly restrictive and often do not align with the original shine of pieces, which again makes matching between different sets impossible.
  6. The base brightness is not normalized across individual sections, from piece to piece within a set, or across sets. The same pure white may look blindingly white, dull grey, or silver depending on what you apply it to.

My suggestion is to resolve all of the above items OR change the way that dyes work;

  1. Combine the 3 separate color/pattern/shine dyes to a single dye. When a dye is used it unlocks that slot for free re-dyes for the next 24 hours, so you can experiment with in-game lighting and continuously change to get the desired effect.
