Maybe I don’t understand fully yet why you need great connection to the server, I understand why in games like League of Legends where it’s highly competitive and you need to be able to react to semi-unpredictable situations once in a while, however it seems like if you learn the fight against any boss well enough you can compensate for the latency and still have a high degree of effectiveness. I can still imagine just the feel of the game being off, as it was in League when I played from NA I had ~202ms latency and it just feels less responsive, and therefore less fun.
The raids are not really heavily rely on ping, if you know what is going on then it is possible to play it. Except for a few occasions, like in brel you need reaction speed for counter/stagger that one mech, and in clown raid if your ping is too high you might run into the saw/hook without even realizing it. Or in most cases you would take more damage than you should be if playing normally. And because if you are not playing in native server, sometime the ping spike will also hit you randomly and that might even lead to your death or wipe.
The first two hours of the new player experience is the story (as is the following 14-20 hours). The story content is full solo and you’ll hit lv 50 by around Arthentine, so I am not exactly sure what Tripods (or do you mean Triports) you would want. Sorry maybe I am just reading what you are saying wrong.
Beyond that there simply isn’t a player base that remains in pre-T3 content. That is a big reason why they are condensing T1/2 and making it as fast as possible a new player to get it over with. You will not play with other people for the first couple days or possibly even weeks, you likely won’t even see another player outside of a major city in that time.
Once you reach NV (a day or so into playing) you’ll have enough skill points to level 10 a couple skills and have max tripods for that skill. This is also where the daily content loop that you will spend the rest of your time playing LA begins. Chaos/Guardian/Una/Procyon.
I suppose allowing the new player max tripods on all the skills they have as a temp. buff until they hit T3 could be a fun idea however, just to show what your characters power could be.
The community is not all bad. Those that complain the loudest but are still here are here because they want the game to succeed but it’s been falling short. There are plenty of us in game, on the forums, community discords, twitch, etc that support Lost Ark and want it to be a better experience for everyone, including ourselves, which is where you see most of the heated arguments coming from.
Building a game around a progression system that walks in circles where max ilvl players still need to run super old content to them for gold every week right alongside someone like yourself who is only just getting started is where most of the toxicity and gatekeeping comes from. It isn’t that we don’t want to run with someone new, it’s that we don’t have the time to re-teach these old gates again and again each week.
This is simply bad developer design.
P2W: The game heavily monetizes progression. You can pay in time or you can pay in money, but the chore based systems slow progression grind can be skipped with your credit card, which is pay for progression.
There is no winning. P2W is a myth. In the end all it ever is is the F2P and P2W communities argue against each other while the real winner, the company, just bleeds the players with shitty systems and artificial barriers. P2W = You Pay, the company Wins.
Bots: At one point we had more bots than actual players, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody that a large part of the community would complain about that.
Positive Feedback: Has always existed, but it got buried under a year and a half of problems, bad developer/publisher decisions and in-game issues.
Would you rather have read a bunch of lies when you were doing your research, install a new game and realize as soon as you entered what you read isn’t what is real? The whole point of doing research on a topic isn’t to just hear the positives, it’s to understand what you are getting into.
I for one am glad to hear and see a new player, I hope you keep that positive mentality and can have a great time in the game.
Lost Ark is a great game, it just also has great problems.
Welcome to alaska!!
Might I suggest looking up some horizontal content (Skill Points, collectables etc.) They are simple to do but are gatekept so feels bad when you find out later.
HAHA kid, this is what everyone says and feels about Lost ark at the start! We all went through it bruh!
Lots of good answers here, thanks for taking the time to reply in full to all of my points.

The first Legion Raid you experience (Valtan) has a death by gravity mechanic. No matter your level, if you get hit at all near the edge of the map, you instantly die. If you just so happen to lag back into a attack, goodbye.
Even worse, the latest Legion Raid release (Brelshaza) has yellow attacks that come out extremely fast and can kill you in the same way while also punishing you with a debuff that can potentially kill you and your teammates everytime you get hit.
It may not be competitive in the usual PvP way, but dying in a situation where the more people alive, the better, is why Latency is extremely important.
Good luck on your journey through Alaska homie ![]()
Q: Why are people calling it Alaska? Just similar to Arkesia?
Some streamer (I think Elly) started saying it and it just stuck I guess lol
Just a few more item level to 1415. Thats when you get access for the main content: Raids.
And thats when you will experience why is this game so unfriendly with beginners.
This is a good game, honestly. I mean the combat and raid is really top, but everything else will slowly feel a pain in the ******* and badly designed.
When as a beginner you want to join a raid.
When you will build your first 5x3.
When you need the first 7/7 stone.
When you will see toxic player in every third party.
When you see 100 bots fishing.
When you have to overhone for a content because nobody will invite you. (eg need 1475ilvl for Kakul raid, but nobody want to invite you on 1475 ilvl)
And I can continue this.
On 1355 ilvl you literally not even started the game. Seriously. Its like you just installed the game and now you will start it.
Enjoy the journey till it last.
The catch-up is fast enough that the game feels good at that point. I personally just spent 5k gold on a single item trying to get from 1447 to 1450 on my alt, and that’s without the fusion materials since I had them pre-made from SH throughout the week. It’s still not upgraded, BTW.
My criticism and frustration with Lost Ark since I first started complaining has bee consistent in the opposite way, actually. The only reason I am even on these forums, is that Lost Ark is the most love/hate game I have ever played.
I absolutely love the gameplay of my 4 primary characters.
The world, islands, sailing, some of the NPCs, etc…I’ve grown fond of.
There is some fantastic group content you can do with friends pretty easily.
However…there are things that make me absolutely hate the game as well.
Ultimately, vocal players won’t fight for a game that don’t care about. If I had nothing good to say about LoA, I’d have quit silently like many people likely wish I would do. Too bad for them…I love parts of LoA and am not gone quite yet.
Some game forums complain about balance and QoL; Lost Ark forum complains about fundamental problems with the game’s core progression.
There is a big difference, far as I’m concerned…and SG/AGS have apparently taken it seriously, but we’ll only actually find out after the roadmap.
It has less to do with “making sure we get new players” and more to do with "I hope Lost Ark becomes a game people want to stick with.
Your observation is not technically wrong, but if a game has flaws, it…well, it has flaws. No amount of ‘perception’ can fix that.
Sorry for skimming; the wall of text was a bit much and I wanted my reply to be even shorter than this. I’m also just venting that I lost 5k gold to a single bloody item on my alt…
Don’t listen to other ppl to tell u not to enjoy this game…
But keep in mind u only play 90 hours of an MMORPG.
No offence but everybody who sub 300 hours in a game is more than likely in honeymoon phase of a game, which means everybody is nearly 100% deluded in regard to actual perception.
More power to you to enjoy the game, but don’t disregard the opinion of vets when they have 3-4k hours + and you have 90.
NEW SKINS NEW RAID APRIL 12th ~ Elly - YouTube I call it Alaska because I watch too much elly
Btw man, don’t look at other ppls opinion on whether u should play game or not ^^
Play a game if u like it, if u don’t, don’t play it ![]()
I play games that are far more “dead” and have way more negative community than LAO (Soulworker, BnS, PSO2NGS, several niche gacha games), bcos i like them, couldn’t give two shits about what a youtuber says or ppl in the community say tbh
Hope u have fun, LAO does have some truly great content for a f2p game
U prefer we lie and say theres no bots and the game is fine? XD
I don’t blame you for not reading my entire post, it was really long so I will say again in short form for you:
Only Complaining = bad, Complaining + Appreciating = good
People do appreciate altho it is unnecessary, obviously theres good stuff abt the game or we wouldnt still be playing XD
