I dont think I have seen a single thread where they blamed ONLY RMTers. Obviously AGS is responsible for the current climate in the game. The main reason people are very vocal about RMTers is that most players feel that it just isn’t fair that these people are basically being allowed to get away with cheating virtually unscathed, while they are also at least in part responsible for inflating the economy and funding bots. Which makes the game even harder for legitimate players and in some cases recently has completely prevented some people from accessing the game at all due to massive queues.
You’re trying to reason with people who don’t follow the logic, to begin with.
A lot of the other side simply thinks people should just do what’s right, even if AGS/SG is exploiting that ‘right’ with their predatory monetization. They created their own situation by trying to exploit their players for bigger profits.
One of the other analogies I see often on this topic is, the war on drugs or the prohibition of alcohol…We can look at history and see it’s not just the buyers or suppliers who are at fault for escalating it to the scale that it’s at.
Making these illegal, created the market for underground suppliers, which created organized crime, which incentivized getting people to expand their businesses outside of areas/side hustles, etc. and this trend continues. Just like it does in the game lol, organized crime = RMT services.
Choosing the route of hyper-banning the buyers is like putting all the drug/drinkers in prison thinking this will magically solve the problem. The RMT services will continue to exist and provide for any demand that AGS/SG continues to create, that is the demand for more gold.
AGS/SG will obviously not budge and continue to sit there, demand more $$$ from their players for gold, and thus creating even more underground RMT services that continue to entice more gold buyers lol…
That’s b/c the buyers only RMT b/c the RMT services are able to undermine LAO’s extremely greedy monetization design at such drastic levels. AGS/SG has no way to stop these underground markets, b/c they need people to keep spending $$$ for Royal crystals to get EZPZ gold as it’s a big part of their monetization.
What happens when the RMT services undermine your greedy design? They become the businesses with your customers lol. I think the solution is simple but may be more complex from the business side… AGS/SG would need to overhaul the way gold is earned, spent and moved around but hey why would they? the gold exchange is big bux.

The RMT fallacy
When you start a topic like that its very hard to continue reading the content.
There are BOTH to blame, those who buy it (for the mayor part) that they don’t have a bit of integrity, and those who supply it… Do you really think that AGS/SG have nothing to do with the rmt business?, Do you really think the walls, cameras, and security aren’t put there on purpose?.
Two, there are two to blame.
Well I guess that’s the difference between me and other people. Others want to blame people for taking advantage of a broken system, fine… I get it. And they should, cheaters make games bad. BUT… the system we are forced to live with is SO broken and SO corrupt that, RTM threads doesn’t deserve the traction it’s gotten on the form.
I’d rather blame the people who created the broken system. (And do nothing to fix it.)
You can move the goal posts again to anywhere you want on that argument to appear more correct than me. Whatever. Do what you want. It’s not going to change my mind.
If we had actual secure game client that made botting almost impossible, then I would be happy to grab a torch and pitchfork with everyone else and go after the RMTers too.
But until that day comes, every thread created about banning RMT players is just a distraction from the real issue.

The RMT issue and the ongoing jealousy drives people into the paranoia.
It is crazy what some people with higher ilvl experience during their daily time ingame.
So, basically, this isn’t about Progression and RNG anymore. It became something like: if you have an higher ilvl than 1460, then you must be without an doubt an RMTer or botter who needs to be immediately reported, insulted and hunted.

Except some drugs are legal and you can legally buy alcohol. Oh and thats right you can RMT legit. When people draw comparisons to real world there are many other factors they do not take into consideration which heavily skew things. Real life is much more complex in this regard at times, people argue from a place of ignorance. What are we conversely what havent we explored with RMT, what are people ignorant about? It seems abundantly clear, you either choose to cheat or you don’t. What am I missing?

Am over 1460 (1475) and have not once been accused of RMT or being a cheater.

On one point I agree with the author 100% percent! Lost Ark/Smilegate has no protection against botting due to the legal provisions relating to data protection. Unlike in Korea, for example, it is not legally permitted to verify the game with an ID card. So we have an F2P model in the West, which is of course very, very F2P friendly. Every player can generate a lot of money with the auction house in a short time. But so do the bots. The F2P system we have here just doesn’t work. The thesis is clearly less F2P less bots. More PayWalls, more ProgressionWalls means more cashing in the ingame shop. Because the ingame shop would be the only alternative to making a little more gold in addition to the little gold, since neither the player nor the bot gets “too much” gold anywhere ingame. Before we clarify the bot question, and I have already indicated this in a few posts, we have to ask ourselves whether the F2P system suits the West at all. And if not, are we ready for more P2W more progress walling for botting to stop? It’s not the RMT people that are the problem, it’s the F2P people who just because it’s F2P want to play it 100% as a F2P game. With tons of freedom to get currency without real money. What you don’t realize is that you share these freedoms with the bots. And are in no way prepared to restrict your freedoms for the benefit of everyone else.

It’s possible not saying its unheard of. But are players getting banned in droves for being over geared? No. AGS/SG have been rather lenient on RMTers and hesitant to permaban anyone. Why even pretend as if those who falsely accuse have reasonable course of action to unjustly persecute. It hasnt been documented since the launch of the game. Are we going to make up players who have been falsely banned out of jealousy in Lost Ark?

If you believe Lost Ark to be a predatory place that creates gambling addicts and cheats people out of their money, steer clear of their services/establishments. Why endorse cheating openly in their services? If you thought a casino was shady, would you intentionally go into their casino to cheat and steal money from them? (I hope you wouldnt, for your safety I hope you wouldnt lol).

Take advantage of kids, beat up old ladies, shoplift; but why would you do those things even if you had the opportunity? Why defend those who chose to take those opportunities?

The west is ready for more P2W see Diablo Immortal. Diablo 4 will release a slightly weakened P2W game based on the data from Diablo Immortal. See in the past Blackdesert where over 50% of the revenue was generated by the Wales alone. The F2P system that brought Lost Ark to the west doesn’t work that way. And the only solution to fight bots is to minimize any gold source for both F2P players and botters.
