Honestly most games with action elements would have stagger frames, and it’s not even called CC backthen.
Earliler arcady games, or fighters game in general is embracing that nature of only one player is attacking, not the later appraoch where two sides are swinging at the same time. By your logic the entire fighters game genre wouldn’t existed.
DnF is another action oriented game that has a ton of staggers, same goes with C9, same goes with dragonnest(to a more casual extent). And those games all have quite a bit of pvp hype through their life-cycle. This is nothing new or nothing wrong, it is just you not ready for something that’s different from your WoW-like experience.
tbh i play a wardancer and i’m fine with average blade (in 1v1s i’m terrified but not in 3v3). We all know upper slash, and we all know the first hit of upper slash is just a simple stagger, same goes with surprise attack, a quick stagger, and also with high axel. In most cases you get launched because of 1. atk speed buff and 2. you challenge it in melee knowing upper slash is available. 3. you try to break its combo during upper storm.
Plus, we all know if the blade wants to do any damage, he has 3 consistant options:
Charge viod striker for 1 sec, standing still, can’t move and no armour for the 1 sec casting and whole animation after(the animation is not fast just saying).
sonic, standing still for 1.5 sec, with no super armour, plus sonic itself doesn’t even stagger.
Blitz, standing still for 0.5 sec, this skill is not that punishing, but extends the knock time a lot.
A good blade, like neeko is constantly repositioning itself mid combo to create safe room, but for average blades, just save all your ammuniation and catch it during its main damage options after upperslash…it’s very predictable.
You know what i’m afraid of? a gunslinger or a sorc that can hard cc from range, turning my combo into my death.
except if they use speed hack among other traps that lately I only see super fast players with classes that are not and with ridiculous cooldowns without damage loss, especially sorceresses who are faster than a striker with 750 speed lol xD
today I only play rankeds by class level, because the MMR doesn’t matter to me, the system from my point of view is shit, and the balance can be improved, I have given up a long time ago, because there is no matching mechanism to match the teams among other things
Yeah, sorc animations are by far the slowest and obvious compared to any other class I have tried so far and almost anything will interrupt them.
The only way to land them on them an aware target is to guess where they are going to move next and get lucky.
The hard CC on vortex/frost is not instant, so even if you do get caught you have a chance to move out of it.
Squall is the most “instant” CC we have and even that gets interrupted by anything faster.
The only time squall doesn’t lose a trade is when it’s against another sorc using squall and we both end up stunned. So, not a loss, but a draw!
You are dumb, Comparing a Deadeye to a DB is silly, assassins have more annoying abilities plus the Deadeye has to do combos from weapon to weapon with x-z.
Not to mention the Paladin and Bard in elimination and their disgusting regeneration.
In conclusion Deadeye: It is worth by its ability. (CHAD) Paladin: Metapod Bard: Healing and annoy
DB: A lot of shield, agility and above all, damage generator without hands.
Deadeye is the most balanced class, if you complain to the others you are a little girl.
Sorc makes up the second highest GM/M rating only behind pally. by a slight margin. For retrospect sorc is literaly only slightly less broken then the actual broken class in this game. Sorc players are jokers and can’t deny they are carried by a truly broken class
Yes sorc is absurd in 3v3 if she plays properly.
Funny thing as wardancer I am not rly counter to sorc but I am pretty good in burning her escapes, thing is for every sorc in enemy team you need 2 ppl working together to run her down. If you pair sorc with class that punish rushdown like arti or even good peeler she is rly hard to counter.
The thing is, if you consider how hard it is to punish sorc and how hard it is to play sorc it is clear that ppl will find her “op”.
As long as sorc is not braindead spamming spells and actualy thinks, she is 1 of the strongest classes in pvp. In low rank all you need to do is drop aoe under your teammate that is being focused, and if you are focused you just blink away and wait for enemy to either burn thier gapclosers or ignore you.
Ofc sorc can get deleted by other classes in 1v1 but we dont rly play 1v1 rankeds do we?
ikr, people are like “sorc is so weak” as if it’s the worst class in arena.
Meanwhile i landed a perfect crescent moon kick on two enemies, but have to instantly space away, and give up my b&b combo plus, because i saw the sorc’s “slow animation” of eletric ball/fire wave.
“Slow animation” really? Just by existing, the sorc can turn any of your combo into your tomb.
Listen, in the other post people are saying the opposite, they are saying sorc is OP. They just crybabies. So many of them here, its too tempting for my salt addiction.
Once you learn to pvp with your class and learn also to read the other classes, you won’t be having these issues, which have nothing to do with the balance you are talking about, so let’s start:
About your point 1, you need to know when to get in, when to get out and most importantly, who to attack and when, so they can’t escape. This has nothing to do with balance of classes, this has to do with you knowing when to strike and when not to. (And peels)
Refer to point 1. (And peels)
Just some skills show their path/area, if they didn’t it would really be unbalance because you wouldn’t be able to predict certain classes, which is what keeps you alive in PvP, the ability to predict your enemy. (And peels)
Refer to point 1. (And peels)
There is no god class, just people with good control of a class. (And peels)
So basically, and I don’t mean to be rude: Learn, because you speak about balance but you didn’t talk about anything balance related.
This is very well said, in my experience the awareness is very hard to learn and it takes time and practice, but it pays off very well, in my opinion too much people dont pay much attention to awareness and dont work to improve it.
The difficult part is that, the question of “when to go in/out” is often a risk related question.
If one decides to play safely with extremely disceplined timings, he’s going to win a game where enemy makes more mistakes, or his teamm8s are really reliable. You win by making less mistakes.
On the other hand, sometimes the team also needs someone that’s willing to take risk and create oppotunity. So you win by creating an oppotunity rather than waiting for mistakes.
You often can have a wardancer playing very actively at beginning of match, on combustion counter under 5sec, he’ll start mixing slides, spacebar and phoneix/lightening kick, to disrupt enemy spacing, or bait enemy skills, so the team8s could enagage safely.
Is it risky? of cuz, it’s really risky, given none of those skills has more than stagger immunity and it’s start of match so enemy has all CD/awakening and so. But, it’s also equally rewarding, if enemy is break apart and your deathblade can take on an isolated opponent, or you made the sorc waste its electric ball and possible gravity loss.
Playing pvp is like investing, you need to take and manage risks, so the point 1 is often a really complicated question that is contextual and based on personal skill/style.
Hopefullly IF the premade ranked is open, we wouldn’t be overwhelmed by boosters, win-traders and smurfs mmr trick and all that…you know, the dark side.
i find the game pretty balanced after 500 games paladin seems a bit too strong and match up is a thing but i do agree with you solo queue for 3v3 is “ok” (everyone is affected by teammate on great number of game it shouldnt matter) but at the same time getting 3 melee with no support against 2 pala and one arti just doesnt seems fair or balanced.
at the same time the argument for 3v3 premade ranked queue doesnt seem fair (with that low of a pvp population it would just dilute it even more and would probably amount to less game played with no player to matchmake against you)
