i dont get why ppl are mad about rmt ? just play ur own way and let ppl do what they want ? at end everyone can enjoying lost ark.
I think it might be more for those who are playing more solo compared to as a guild. But then, there’s no leader board (unless they’re complaining about gear-based open world pvp). I carry a neutral stance as a player on RMTing; maybe someone who’s not neutral can provide some insight.
On the other hand, I’m more disgusted seeing bots moving like ants (aesthetically disturbing and displeasing). Or maybe those bots are the reason people are mad about rmt.
WoW’s policy was to not ban. They’d give a suspension because their data showed that it more likely created a customer that would continue playing but a ban definitely lost a customer.
FFXIV doesn’t make a clear policy. They say they ban gil buyers but the general feel of the player base is that most don’t get banned unless you outright are snitching on yourself and force their hand. They basically combat it by making it such that gil is not a majorly important resource. There’s just other in game currencies that you can’t RMT your way around or buy with RMT gil to progress yourself through.
With F2P, banning is largely ineffective also since there’s no barrier for entry. Think of it this way, if i’m willing to spend 1000 on illegal gold and get banned so what? Why wouldn’t I just go back and buy an illegal account to recover? The company running the game loses more because in this whole process, they still have made no money from me. In the sub model, until they ban me outright, they still got money from my sub. In F2P, if they ban me and I decide to just not come back, they have no chance to monetize me.

The answer is no.
Even if they actually tried and took everyone’s suggestions of perma banning every RMTer or “this guy killed me one time he must be RMTer” that you reported, there will still be RMT.
Even FFXIV where they have a specialist team specifically to handle just RMT and cheaters and designed the game such that the tradeable currency (gil) that you could buy with your credit card from China has almost 0 impact on your character progression, people still RMT.
It’s one thing to be a whale. I think in general most people are alright with people buying gold using the in game system because the gold is obtained from players looking to buy blue crystals which increases the likelyhood of it being legitimate gold and it all feeds back into the ecosystem
The problem with RMT which is the act of purchasing gold from outside sources is that in almost all cases that gold is obtained through bots. Basically all of the gold on G2G and other RMT sites are obtained through bots and that gold is generated at a rate that isn’t natural to the game. RMT is the cause of the bots who ruin the game experience for new players and all of this extra gold generation contributes to inflation which hurts all players.

The honest and true no joking around answer is no.
Even if they did at this point the damage has already been done. So much gold has been injected into the game from throw away accounts that the servers would take years to stabilize and recover even if they did manage to ban every single bot.
The design of the game, the ease at which it can be botted, the zero barrier to entry and the “one and done” nature of honing & gearing means most NA/EU servers are way ahead of where they should be progression wise. Even if you never bought RMT you still had that gold trickle it’s way down to you while selling materials and accessories (Who you think was buying those GHL at 750g a pop from you back a few months ago?)
RMT is going to be a part of the game. That’s just the sad truth for LA NA/EU.
It also doesn’t help that RC > Gold purchases from AGS/SG is like 10x more expensive than RMT. It’s literally cheaper to RMT a fresh account and run it until it gets banned multiple times than it is to shop AGS/SG for gold.
There are legit players who have the same fear with the way selling on the Market has been going lately as well.
I definitely agree that buying gold with royal crystal is 10 times more expensive than bots and players are not banned permanently and their progress continues, so they take this risk once they are caught, aiming to equip their characters in the best possible way and not knowing how many months they are penalized once they are caught and enter the game. they won’t cheat again when they come back. thats why rmt will be apart of the game and people need to learn to live with it no matter how wrong it is

It isn’t like they are doing anything illegal, not really even immoral. They are just breaking a video games ToS. They are also saving thousands of hours grinding and tens of thousands of dollars not paying AGS prices. It’s funny we’d consider buying vast amounts of gold from RMT to be wrong, but AGS/SG sells you the same thing and that’s perfectly acceptable.
Most of the people who Whaled/RMT early on are leaving anyway out of boredom. Without the need to do daily chores the want to log in would be pretty minimal.
They get banned, oh well they move on to another game. /shrug.
yeah as you said the event of not returning to the game changes depending on how many months and ho wmany weeks they were punished? of course it spoils the game and ididnt call them immoral, just like you said , they are free to use their own money in what way, and they are already punished if they do the necessary behavior by not following the rules of the game and when you should not do this and if you do. but by refusing to buy gold at the price offered by amazon and buying from 3 party sites, they skip thousand of hours of grinding and save money of course they dont come to any harm. however the reason why there are so many bots the high demand for gold on 3 rd party sites is too high

Think of it this way. You are paying Chang either way so I don’t see how they are losing your money? It was already lost when you decided to g2g and they made no money on you to begin with & no further losses are being made by banning you but at least their competitor loses a customer.
Why would their competitor lose a customer?
Someone who RMTs is someone we know, factually, is someone that is willing to spend money on a video game and has no problems doing so. All we need to know, as a game publisher, is how to convert them to spending in our shop and not an illegitimate one. This person is more valuable than a F2P player because a F2P player has demonstrated that they are unwilling to spend any money on the game no matter what.
Your idea of just permabanning them closes all possible avenues of ever monetizing this person.
It’s not like they won’t just RMT gold in their next game from G2G. What makes you think if you ban them from Lost Ark they won’t buy WoW Gold or FFXIV gil? Did you actually think banning them from Lost Ark bans them from G2G?

You don’t know that. A F2P player can still recommend the game to their friends some of whom who may also purchase power passes or other things from the shop. They may also create content for example on youtube and help the game reach other people. There’s certainly $ value there.
Why should I care if they buy WoW gold or FFXIV whatever? I don’t play those games. AGS didn’t publish those games.
They can create a new account any time and spend money on the game.
There are Facebook black market groups. Line black market groups. Discord. The amount of RMT is still HUGE. People are selling entire accounts…
