Gotcha fam. Thanks for the input.
…? Where is capitalism and equality if everyone gets the same thing regardless of how much you paid? You know, the game company cannot run on pure donations.
Sadly, that’s not how it works in anywhere in this world. You have to invest either money and/or time to achieve them. If you don’t want to spend the money? That’s totally fine. But then you will have to spend more time to match your achievement to those who are spending.
It is always possible, because you have something called Artisan’s Energy, for those who doesn’t have the best luck in the world. If you have spent enough mats on honing one level, the game saves you from spending more.
Not sure what abo-system you are referring to, and why are we talking about paying 20 bucks to boost the alt? I thought you were trying to give money-payers the same progress as those who didn’t pay.
Well, it seems your definition of “winning” is completely different from mine then ![]()
No it isn’t. Like BDO’s enhancing system is hot garbage but even then it’s gives you the option to skip it entirely and just buy your stuff off the market. In LA you’re hard locked into tons of RNG.
MMOs are moving away from RNG progression systems because they’re pretty awful. BDO added various guaranteed PEN armors, weapons, and accessories where you bypass RNG and just get your item by farming a finite amount of materials. ESO added group trade, transmutation, and sticker book.
The issue with RNG progression is there is always going to be absolutely massive despairities between the top and bottom percentiles when it comes to luck. Then the game just starts losing the unlucky ones by default. Negativity bias also causes tons to leave.
Overall its not a good system when equal effort has such drastically different outcomes
Scratch what I said above, it seems I completely read your message wrong
But I still have no idea what you are trying to say. Are you saying the game is blocking free-to-play players from progressing the game?
You gotta give us arguments to why you think that is, other than just assuming that is the truth
Doesn’t Lost Ark also have Artisan’s Energy that’s guaranteed enhancement? What would be difference between getting guaranteed PEN armors and accessories with bigger resources, and giving them a slight chance of using less mats with RNG like Lost Ark?
This would depend on how you describe “top”. In terms of just playing the very end content in Korea, which is Hard Brelshaza Legion raid, may be not because it is the hardest one that requires some investments. But if you invest so much time at the start the server like we can on western server? It may be possible. We don’t know that for sure yet though.
Also, there is something called Trial raid of those harder bosses, which you can join with less investment yet have the same/similar experience. We don’t have it yet on western server, but it should be coming.
Usually it’s the reward of clearing the harder dungeons that gives you more feeling of achievement, not the honing. As soon as you hit the minimum requirement to enter the content, the item level becomes so much less important.
In terms of lack of resources, again, devs are working on it already.
My condolences good sir. Hang in there and the tables will turn.
Yeah you have artisans energy when you fail (BDO has fails tacks), but only after you fail very expensive dice rolls then you have to restart with the RNG again. Don’t get me wrong it’s better than nothing but the difference between good luck and bad luck for equal effort is still absolutely massive.
The fail stacks on BDO are far more expensive to hit 100% enhancement rate (which is probably why you called it garbage), and never gives you a guaranteed enhancement - even thought success rate goes up, it is still RNG to whether or not you succeed.
Personally I think any MMORPG game without an RNG aspect is garbage. That wouldn’t be an MMORPG, it would be single-player adventure game. I agree the market is shifting toward having less RNG in their games, but that’s only to a fair extent.
Of course, the description of “fair extent” will be different for everyone, but I still find it is at the reasonable level in Lost Ark (in terms of RNG)
- Because it is the content itself that you are having fun with, not your character progression (in most cases)
I’m not defending BDO’s enhancing system. It’s hot garbage. I’m saying the game gives you the option to ignore the dumpster fire and just buy your gear off the market and has been pumping out zero RNG systems. g
In LA you are hard locked into the RNG which is going to create massive disparities in experience without any recourse.
Hmm I am not sure why you are not wanting to have enhancements at all, because I find them rewarding in terms of experience. Of course you get unset and angry when it fails, but it also gives you so much feeling of enjoyment when it actually succeeds.
Not to mention it enhances the experience because you know that honing system in LOA will eventually give you guaranteed success rate (it maybe a disappointment, but it still gives you that)
Well… I lost a word to say to that.
It sounds like a personal problem, not a game
If you really need to rush the content you want to play, opening the wallet or using more time is the only solution. The only advise I can give you is ‘don’t rush’ in that case…
Cuz I am already having ton of fun playing Gate of Paradise, and I know I will, one day, reach Argos and it doesn’t have to be right now.
Not if you fall into the unlucky or very unlucky category. At that point people get bitter and angry. And that’s for people who have a proclivity for gambling to begin with. I don’t mind gambling. All my gear is self tapped in BDO. But many people hate gambling and there is no other option so you start bleeding players. People will also quickly forget about their good luck when an unlucky streak comes along because of negativity bias and you start losing them too.
Well I have to agree, because I am typically one of those unlucky dudes…
I usually feel the opposite though, the more I fail, the bigger sense of joy I get from the success. This is usually what makes RNG fun. I would never call the honing in LOA a Gambling, because there is no gambling that gives you guaranteed “win” if you lose too much.
Of course, there may be people that hit 100% Artisan’s Energy on every single one of the equipment… But that would be an extreme outlier, and nothing else I can say than I feel bad for them.
Not trying to be mean but I highly doubt there are many people who enjoy losing hard at the casino. If it was something of merit you had to grow and improve to overcome it would be one thing. But losing to straight up RNG that’s entirely out of your control isn’t going to give many a sense of accomplishment.
Well at least it goes up to 100%, it could remain on that unending bad luck! But yeah, suffered the same with a piece too, but in weapon hurts a lot more.
This was intended believe it or not because if the intention was not this then we would have gotten the proper and complete version of the game which could help us to deal with this absurd honing system by at least having much more materials to burn.
I have also noticed something else by the way:
I am failing a lot as in multiple times in a row on my alts that have 80% or higher and +11 or higher.
See: if they fooled us and rng is actually 20% bellow of what’s showed, then obviously your friend got lucky but on the other hand you were NOT unlocky, just scammed.
