This isn't "Getting" out of hand, it's "Gotten" out of hand. An Open Letter to AGS/SG

Thats probably because of the version of the game we got~
Not F2P friendly, accelerated content but no accelerated progression yada yada yada

And no u have value, but the negative of being a Community Manager is that people will
vent on the people of the studio thats in the front, not those who actually make the decisions.

Yeah game allready lost like almost half of its playerbase, based on saturday and sunday charts of activity. You dont listen to your community, means community leave and you gonna left with swiper elitist only on 5 servers overall who saying all the time that game is fine and its nothing wrong with it. Its your choice. You have only 1 chance to fix this before collapse and if you miss this fix it gonna end in trash bin. So think twice is it better to have healthy playerbase? Or is it better to milk this money just for profits? Is it better to have 500k players that enjoy the game and buy skins etc? Or is it better to have 50-100k swipers who spend money only when new content for them drop?
Im really missing times where mmo’s where made for people to enjoy them, to have fun. Now most of it just wanna milk this $$$ and dont care about players.
Now to summarize i love this game, enjoy everything it has to offer, but if this trend continues im just gonna uninstall and forget about it. Its really that easy.

I dont even think swipers would want to play a dying game. Why invest into something that nobody takes seriously?

Hey @Seawolf ,

Going to tag @Roxx as well here. I’m going to request that my thread be locked from here on out. It seems the toxic children came out to play and are devolving the purpose of this open letter. While I understand their concerns and want their voices heard, it’s clearly not being productive anymore.

Thanks!

If someone told me 10 years ago I would pay £100 a month on a video game I would of laughed.

I am also light spender, I spent like 400 euro so far, but for other stuff then honing materials, I dont want to buy my way to progress. I am just 1340 with plenty of alts and its not pretty in tier 3 at all.
Daily for 3 leapstones are joke, same for guardians, there is just no source of materials. Will have to get more alts into T3 to even feel like progress.

Personaly the whole tier 3 is disappoitment for me and can understand many quit at this stage.

I’m terrified AGS is going to mismanage this as badly as New World, and move along at an “AGS” pace with respect to communications and changes, and the game is just going to die while we’re all waiting.

AGS is incredibly slow with communication, and constantly put out information releases that only address 60% of what the community is asking about when they make a dev post to give us information.

We still haven’t gotten a single comment on honing rates and upgrading pace - not a single word.

AGS constantly fails to understand how dire a situation is; it feels like behind closed doors they’re telling each other “don’t worry we can turn it around, just hold till then”, but “then” never comes. They didn’t realize how serious the issues they COULD change with New World were, and by the time they actually started coming around the game was already dead.

I am very concerned the same thing will happen with Lost Ark - they have no idea how serious this week is for the health of this game, if we don’t see a statement addressing the honing issues and a plan for how to fix it before reset this week I fear the community is going to turn. It’ll just be another indicator AGS doesn’t know what they’re doing, have not learned a thing from the failure of New World, and are willing to let another project that was intended to be supported by long term microtransaction monetization of a large player base die instead of changing their strategy.

I feel like I’m actually going insane with respect to how viable the option of just going back to Russian servers is starting to feel. All these years of waiting thinking about how amazing it will be once we get our own servers, and then it’s announced and it feels so close and that it’s finally happening; SGR chooses AGS as their publisher, and we actually end up receiving a version of the game that is so predatory in it’s progression pacing that it almost feels like a different game.

They’re genuinely going to kill this in the crib and it breaks my fucking heart. >

We we’re so close…

Seawolf, thank you for your honesty concerning this.

If there is uncertainty, provide the community with the draft of the road maps.

Hell, provide us with the draft of all of the road maps that you guys are juggling around.

The reason that I say this is that the best way to learn about someone is to ask.

So ask the community what we want. Provide us with A/B/C/D road map drafts and a poll. Say:

"Hey, as the road since lunch has been rocky and we understand that the lack of transparency is making us look like bad guys, we really are not, we are just trying to best serve the community in this new environment we are uncertain how to best navigate. Therefore, in order to clear things up, here are the drafts of the road maps that our teams are working on

//Insert drafts worked that include April-June updates//

And we would like to hear your opinion on, which of these road map drafts, you, heroes of Arkesia, think is the best for the future of our world:

//Insert poll with all of the road map drafts//"

Is it common? No. Is it something that is done, that was done? No. Is it something that should be avoided? Again no. Let our voices be heard in a meaningful way if the internal teams are already struggling and having a hard time - let us guide the game that we love and wish to spend time and money on, instead of being nudged by what can only be perceived as predatory behavior - releasing the end game content without any mechanics that existed before that content to help the players to reach it, in literally every other iteration of the game.

To say nothing of the amount of positive feedback that such a move would make after literal hundreds of tons of players (roughly 12 players per ton) feel like they are screaming into a void only to get a “seen” checkmark by replies akin to “Thank you for your feedback, it will be reviewed, but due to the amount of feedback and suggestions we receive we cannot promise that actions will be taken or that you will receive further replies concerning this”

(Yes, I work in CX too, and from experience I know that this won’t even be put up to discussion, but it is something I do believe could make a lot of wrongs into rights and return some faith that was lost)

Yea amazon needs to fix and bring back honing improvements

The fact we have the standard upgrading rates, but not all of the content to collect the materials to progress through the content is criminal. Give us the challenge abyss, heroic guardians ect. I would say give us the Arkasia honing rates since we are clearly getting Arkasia content, but I know AGS does not want to sacrifice their profit margin…

EDIT: As someone that has played on the other regions, NA/EU is clearly the most pay to win region thanks to AGS right now. This was probably the easiest job AGS could get and yet they are still dropping the ball.

Who cares, there is like less than 1% of players on 1300+ ilvl.

“The Best Predictor of Future Behavior Is … Past Behavior”

Does the popular maxim hold water? How good is AGS track record for successful game launches & sustaining a community?

Everything about Amazon’s track record tells me Lost Ark is doomed to be another Greek Tragedy akin to New World…massive potential, destroyed by terrible decision-making and management by the C level who’s completely out of touch with their product’s consumers.

Gold River seems like a great Game Director. I wish I could say that about anyone in a peer position at AGS.

You cannot say something like this while also making decisions deliberately designed to make you feel pressured.

That model of microtransactions has worked EXTREMELY well for for other Free to Play games like Path of Exile. I would definitely like to see this model implemented as opposed to the pay to progress, which is 1 step shy of pay to win.

There is no reason for having any honing fail pre tier 3 +7. Dunno how much decision power Smilegate has, but I think they would have known that in order to push for the same casual experience as in korea, we would have needed extra resources or honing buff. Either or, Amazon did nothing.

Just because you played 16 to 17 hours a day for every day of the month, does not mean other people are not ready or willing to spend time on the game… You just played way more than any player with school or a job can do. (Yes, you played 500 out of ~720 hours last month).

People enjoying argos while we spam chaos dungeon to get there, I don’t mind the grind but its insane the lack of resource it is noticable. I played 400+ hours on this game too i have 3 t2 alts and 1 T3 main i thought maybe bringing alts to t3 would help but the knowledge transfer is not good i need to keep on doing and doing the main quest just to get to t3 because of knowledge transfer restrictions they don’t even have punika knowledge transfer.

The worse communication I’ve seen in a publisher in a long time.

No honing rates increase before or at the same time as Argos. Maybe not to make whales pay more, but to convert people who were on the verge of being whales into whales.

I have 2 characters at t3, would be having a third one soon. I am done with this RNG.

No Lance Master release at least until June (with the current schedule in the leak).

I am done, good luck with your player retention AGS, you will need it.

Exactly, build a great game to play that can be tough but fair and people will keep playing it and spend plenty of money on cosmetics and QoL items

Look at PoE
