Tier 1 honing fail chance is frustrating and demotivating

Lol you wouldn’t last in BDO either if you think this system is bad rn . This system is like holding your hand thru upgrading gear. It’s not nearly as bad when failing compared to BDO .

What is the “massive amount of content” they are locked off ? … what massive content you can do at t3 that you cant at t2 ? … 2 Abyss Dungeon , some raid guardians and a couple islands ?.. thats your “massive” content in a game that has an insane amount of things to do in t1/t2 ?

even tho this post is the very common , rng unhappy gated person wich lack actual experience in the game and trick to progress efficiently ,there is still an issue related to the heavy inflation, on blue crystal (related to bots) a person in T1 not at the start of the game gain nearly 0 gold weekly , and tthen with the massive inflation its Impossible to buy blue crystal to buy stuff in maris shop by trading gold for blue crystal . and it shouldnt be like that in an non botted economy. (gold to blue crystal would be way lower and maris shop price way more accesible for those T1/T2 mats that would help people go around those gear cap.

in life, we all fail constantly and continue to grind. THIS IS NO DIFFERENT SNOWFLAKES. Keep grinding, until the very end.

Except that only thing worth purchasing in Mari shop at T1 is shards and Leaps, and AH has others provided at cheaper price, and doing weekly/daily throws more than enough in your face in addition to island mats.

It literally takes 3 days worth of core gameplay to complete T1 and even if you have bad luck, it only adds about day or two of additional play. This is including lvl 1 to 50 grind. (Note that 3 days of core gameplay does not necessarily mean 3 days for you as amount of time people play varies) Use breaths strategically, know what you can do to gain what.

Even this complaint about gold cost is ridiculous, when you have 5k ish gold available from quests and welcome challenge in T1 while upgrade tap costs what 10 gold? On top of that, each fail gives like 20 to 40 % artisan energy.

It is really not that hard nor does it take long time.

Doing additional chaos runs for exchange and free breaths is a thing.
Pirate coin exchange is a thing
Island mats rocketing you to 530+ is a thing.
Life skilling for gold is a thing.
Cube for breaths is a thing.

As someone who saw 2 max artisan upgrade in T1, 5 max artisan in T2, it still only took 2 weeks or so to reach T3 with 70+ total fails. Of course, I took time off to play hard and took advantage of all resources available ingame, but you guys are literally complaining about 2 weeks worth of core gameplay to reach endgame, when there is plenty of content available on that process to keep you occupied. (16 Guardian raids, 9 Abyss raids in T1/T2).

For some reason, do you really think these same people who find these cookie cutter eased progression to be unbearable will all of a sudden be fine with much heavier resource required and extremely low success chance and without any handouts in T3? Let’s be real.

Someone who took time off work to play the game is telling us we’re not working hard enough at the game. Cool. I’m fine with T3 being hard, but why is T1 punishing for those of us who don’t take a work vacation to progress in a game?

3 days of core playtime for T1 can mean literally 1 to 2 weeks of casual playtime just to get through an ENTIRE tier that consist of 8 guardians and 4 Abyss raids.

I did not say you’re not working hard enough. what I said is that if you really think that is unreasonable speed of progression, clearly this isn’t the right game for you because these spoon fed cookie cutter progression in T1/T2 is too much, which by the way has been the EASIEST and MOST EXPEDITED version we have yet to see in all Lost Ark versions, you are clearly not going to enjoy the game upon reaching T3. Your mentality and approach will not MAGICALLY do a 180.

Dont worry you alts will have 20% extra (t1 and t2) from research in strongholm =)
First chat is a pain.

GL, for Tier 1 that’s about average 15-20 fails for 600 (having 13 at 580).

My point is that the game could ease people into the failure system, especially in T1. You don’t need to punch people in the face right off the bat. People who are used to this sort of thing and telling the rest of us we’re wrong aren’t helping. It’s funny, because you invalidate us and tell us we suck and to leave. And then you’ll no-life the content and quit in 3 months and then we’ll have another new world.

My point is, honing failure rate is excessive, especially for new players in T1. There’s no reason the curve couldn’t be made shallower. Make T1 moderate difficulty, then ramp up to what it is now in T2. It doesn’t diminish you to allow players not used to this game’s lifestyle to have an easier time acclimating.

I’ve got 20 fails and I’m at 563.33. My weapon is still at 11. I’ve failed thousands of destruction shards to get one upgrade. It feels absolutely awful.

Yes.

That’s because it is.

I had about 25 fails for T1 which is below average but still great for my kind of luck.

T2 had about 50 fails for a grand total of 75 fails to T3. This is extraordinarily terrible luck on a single character not counting alts. 4 items went straight to pity which costs a couple extra weeks worth of materials.

I wish you luck. You might end up lucky for T2. Even though they use an RTP system with seemingly high volatility, that also means that extreme bouts of unluckiness could mean extreme bouts of luckiness the next day since RTP has to be equalized across the server.

It’s crazy to me that people find the current rates unreasonable. You want to reach endgame in an MMO (game meant to be played over a long time) in less than a month ?

It’s literally the bread and butter of any mmo to make you slowly grind and gain to the next tier over extended periods, it’s not something specific to Lost Ark nor is it a new concept. We’re actually moving quite fast but I guess that’s what the devs want.

Not to mention your alts have an even easier time due to stronghold research.

As I’ve said before, it’s just people are bad at judging their perspective and expectations. If they gave us a Weapon/Armor XP bar that you fill up a bit each time you hone (Spend 600 Crystals → Weapon xp + 10% → 100% = +1) and sometimes you get a “CRITICAL SUCCESS” which is automatic +1 people would not even notice or complain about it. (This is basically artisan energy but put in a different perspective to seem more positive due to lack of “Failure”)

Players are clinging too much to the failed part and also , in my opinion, have unreasonable expectations about how fast the game should progress. I guarantee that if you could get to t3 within a day or two we would have the forum filled with posts about how bad T3 honing rates are and lack of content.

all typed up nice in English

its coming, I can wait

  • You’re flooded with islands full of stuff for the first time on your first character only

Fixed it for you.

The problem is those islands and T3 never should be in the game yet. T1 would be fine and not a bad thing if it wasn’t for T3 being in the game now.

The game fucked up listening to ktards and should have made T1 100% all the way through. Fuck it, you released T3 negating everything about T1 and T2 just face fact and accept it and make it 100% for both tiers.

I had similar bad luck. T1 was for weapons, then T2 was for armor pieces.

However, guess how long it took to reach T3.

2 weeks.

2 WEEKS of running enjoyable contents that improved my skills in that time and made me a better player to reach endgame.

Of course, I took time off and played hard, but to say 2 weeks of core playtime is too much and unreasonable in MMORPG is just ridiculous.

Exactly !

There are damn single player games that take longer than that

Yes this is the problem with the NA/EU version of the game. It’s a half-way house.

On the one hand you have the catch-up islands, which are pretty much only useful for the main character, but on the other you have no honing buffs like KR and RU do, but we also have T3 in the game at release, which means T1-T2 are seen by most as “obstacle”, “irrelevant” content – which is always how content that isn’t endgame will be seen by a large percentage of the MMO playerbase.

We have like one-half of the catch-up but not the other half of it, while we have T3 in the game, which renders T1-T2 as a mere obstacle for many players. It’s a recipe for discontent.

Really it should have been released in phases, with a month or two with T1 as the endgame in NA/EU, then another month or two with T2, and then T3 comes along and you add the catch-up islands and honing buffs when you add T3. That would probably be slower advancement overall but far less frustrating for most players. What is frustrating for most players is that the endgame is T3 and it’s ilvl-locked, which itself is locked behind RNG. That makes for a very frustrating combination, and one that could have been avoided with a staggered release schedule.

I am guessing that it was too much brain damage to have a staggered release schedule for the game and phase in content and islands over time in these regions, so they just did the easy thing and left it as as except for the newer content in T3, but removed the honing buffs present in KR and RU. Easier for Smilegate, but a worse experience for the players.

but in T3 there is nothing waiting so u upgrade slowly f it fails who cares (well now we know Argos is coming so ppl want to hit 1370 )

after u pass the 560-600 wall u do yorn , then feyton and another wall and frustration again

I am actually taking my time and I don’t even complain that much on the T1 failure rate cuz
I’m new to the game and i’m learning a lot of things atm… (100+ hours playing teh game)

My only ‘complain’ if thats a complain* is the huge amount of mats needed for T1,
its kinda too much. But aside from that the game is pretty fun I’m really enjoying doing chaos/abyss…

Now, regarding the Alts, i have won a ticket and have seen some people talking about they receiving 2? did we get another one later in teh game?

see ya friend.
