I feel like I’m a reasonably casual player and yet every time I play (which is not that much) the servers go down for HOURS to do maintenance.
This is ridiculous.

Sadly this is always going to happen in MMOs. Especially this close to launch. Best to just get used to it and find something to do while the servers are down. Scheduled maintenance is only once a week for 4 hours the night before the weekly reset. Its really not that unreasonable and it keeps the game running smoothly (usually).
The least they can do is make maintenance happen on reset. I don’t understand why they picked such an odd time to do it.

I mean, weekly maintenance is pretty common in MMO’s these days.
Work second shift constantly with a few hours to play during the early mornings. When I get home, I am usually confronted with a 15 minute to maintenance message.
Sad times, and waste of crystaline aura.
