Yes the new procedure will make people like OP loose their access to the game but it should be very very minimal.
But this procedure will add a massive cost to botters assuming phone number can then be marked as bots.

WHY would people jump through 50000 hoops just to install an 2FA authenticator to play a broken game. BESIDES all this the 2FA wont FIX ANY problems we have in the game.

Besides all this. This 2FA is to stop ppl from being HACKED its not in place to stop BOTTING. The only reason people getting hacked is becuase they give their details to other people. SO STOP GIVING YOUR DETAILS TO OTHER PEOPLE!!! This is common sense and yet it keeps happening. And this 2FA wont stop people being stupid and give their details away. Lose your account ONCE and you will never make that stupid mistake again!
We NEED GMS in the game but they REFUSE to do this so the BOT problem will never ever go away! Beacuse according to AG LOGIC they need 1000+ GMS to stop botting and that costs to much $$$$€€€€$$$$€€€€. You dont need more as 10GMS in game to get rid of most bots.
How could 10 GMs solve the bot problem on every server at any time? Can you explain that?

You expect the GMS thing work the same as bot waves. Well it doesnt…
1 GM on 1 server SLOWLY getting rid of the BOTS combined with the bot waves they implement.
1 GM per server going all over the place banning every bot they come across. Keep doing this for a few weeks and you will see the bots population go down. Bots dont come up as fast as they get banned if you monitor this and KEEP banning BETWEEN the ban waves. Now NOTHING happens BETWEEN the waves so bots KEEP popping up. And you see more day after day untill the next BANWAVE hits.
Now yes you can speed up the process by ADDING a few more GMS per server at START but you dont NEED them after the first few weeks anymore.
Answer me this can you name 1 game where you saw 1000+ gms online?
Keep in mind this is a +/- 200K populated game. Might be even less because of the bots. And you dont need 1 GM per 200-400 players.
This measure (2fa) would only be 100% effective if the blocking includes the auction, but since it is partial, the bots can continue passing their gold through the auction.
GMs in the game would work if we were still in 2005 lol
in 2005 they didnt had those large ban waves this fast and yet the bot population in most populair games were not as big as they are now. (most ban waves were once every few MONTHS)
So kuddos to 2005 for doing a much better job as 2022 
Example from last banwave it went from 600k+ to 200k+ after the banwave. So 2 bots per 1 player.

And i criticized AGS/SG several times for these methods and that they don’t prevent any Bots and so on. It has already been mentioned that the methods I’m describing to help people how to possible use an emulator for Steam Guard to work, can also be used by the people using the bots. And I’ve been discussing this stuff with other here almost since march. Because several people still do believe that technical solutions (e.g. 2FA or captchas) would work.
But like @EmperadorDK correctly says: the auction house is the problem or like I said in a more generic way: the market and trade in general. And there are ways around this, but AGS/SG don’t want to go in that direction.
And I do know what 2FA is for, but as I also described: 2FA is what the community keeps suggesting (falsely if you ask me) to get a 2FA solution to prevent Bots.

It is not that easy as you think
2FA email should not be trusted, if you trust this then it’s pointless to even have the feature because it have no mitigating effect on bots.
If this feature is for fighting bots then requiring something physical will have a better (not perfect) mitigating effect. Also please keep in mind that while a small group of users might be complaining for real, there are going to be botters that are complaining as well. The goal is to make you will relax your security more so it will be easier for them to run the bots and sell their gold.
Wtf? It doesn’t need to be. You literally just connect it to wifi for free… Every phone in the last 15 years can connect to wifi.
Also, there are numerous plans with unlimited calls, and texts and 3GB of data is $15 a month, or for $10 extra you can get 20GB of Data. There is no way you can tell me you have a phone that cannot connect to wifi, and that you have a phone plan that doesn’t include mobile data. And if you do, if it isn’t cheaper than $15 then you are getting scammed.
I understand the need to battle bot and also bot will always find a new way, so different method will only work for a period of time.
The problem here is that they try to fix the problem with something not control by them where the original use for it is for anti-hack, and so there are several method for the steam guard to work, and they say you are not trusted while u’re trusted with Steam, just amazon not trust you.
This is getting to the wrong direction and put the problem to the legit players instead, today they ask you to link with mobile to get trusted, tomorrow maybe they will ask you to link with your credit card to get trusted.
On the other hand, anyone can see the market with so many tier 1 items trading over 1k gold (not to say those over 1 million gold), you cannot say this is normal and also they must be able to identify lots of trading RMT account, simply just ban all the linked trade account! Ban those who RMT, if less ppl RMT, the botter will have less incentive to devote resource to run millions of bots
Unfortunately it will have to be Mobile App Authentication with the current system. We have not cranked this system up to be required by every player yet and are monitoring for player feedback and issues as well as successful impacts before doing so.

So i will lose my Current “Trusted” status in the near Future because i have no Mobile Phone and i have Activated 2fa Steam Guard per email since litterally years so even the 700 bucks i already spend not chaninging anything about it because i have no phone … got it you dont want my money i will not get a phone only for lost ark.
Normally I don’t like to talk shit, but if you’re shitting on mobile 2FA or having some sort of physical device for 2FA then you really don’t care much about security at all and that makes me wonder.
I will just say that I get the feeling that you or people making posts like this are probably botters (Yes I could be wrong, but it’s just a gut feeling). I’ve been playing since early access and the biggest problem for the game has been bots which cause high queues and economy inflation. This solution is a step in a right direction, if it means that you really can’t play it then that’s quite unfortunate but I’ve seen many people quit this game due to bots so doing some basic math thousands > 1.
I’d also I really have to say the part where you typed “got it you dont want my money” made me laugh, how much money could you possibly be spending on lost ark if you don’t have a phone? It makes no sense, I understand people who can’t afford phones but those people would NOT be blowing money on a video game, that would be stupid. If you have money to blow in a game, then you should have money to buy a phone, it’s probably cheaper paying for a phone than it is for one honing upgrade late game lol.
I want to clarify that I’m aware that 2FA isn’t considered “perfect” security, but requiring a physical device is better security than not requiring one. It will make it that much harder for people to transfer money from bots (probably not impossible).
its not that iam against 2fa in general i mean i use it on my steam account since it got introduced only per email because i have no mobile phone and i used the Physical key in Swtor cuz it was included in the collectors edition the reason i have no mobile is not that i cant afford it iam just against in general i dont want to be 24 / 7 acessible for everyone i know/work so my refusal against a Mobile is more of a Personal Choice that dont change the fact that i refuse to get a phone for one game and if iam blocked to buy royal crystals to change for gold and it stops my progress ingame i will simply deinstall the game and be done with it.
Ya the unfortunate thing with emails is that they are free so you can sign up for multiple steam accounts with free emails and authenticate. If this feature was introduced for fighting bots (pretty sure it was) then it basically does nothing at all if they allow emails for 2FA.
You do not need a physical device!
Android emulator, Install the app, get the SMS code, done. Get the code from the emulated phone for the damn bot…
And this is part of the reason, why (this) 2FA do4esn’t work against bots. Yes 2FA is better than nothing, but it won’t really help.
Considering what the bot users are already doing, I’d assume it takes them roughly a day or two to circumvent this, if they don’t already have a solution for this.
