Turning a toxic community around

Overall, I have had quite a good time with this game. I enjoy doing my dailies, slowly progressing my character(s).

I am talking about an incredibly negative and impatient community that almost with a guarantee will be part of any abyssal content you queue up for.

I cannot comprehend how you can sit with gear closing in on item level 1400, and still not have time to slow down and make sure everyone has a good time. I understand that failed mechanics can be frustrating, or that one guy who is really invested in the story and refuses to skip the cutscene. I do also understand that the more you play the game, the more you encounter these scenarios.

Signing up for content with random people is not a guarantee that you can rush the content and be done in a minute. In fact, if that is what you aim for why haven’t you gone for a party finder group instead?

Instead of spewing all sorts of insults or getting so bitter that you refuse to move your character (yeah, some actually do this) or trying to quit after one attempt. Perhaps try to communicate and help those who struggle, it is real people sitting on the other end playing with you after all. People who have launched a game to have a good time.

I’d do my best not to be a hindrance myself when I join new content. I usually go and watch a guide to see the mechanics, but even then mistakes can happen.

Let us play our part, help those we can and show that not all interaction in this game has to be so toxic.

If anyone actually made it to the end of this wall of text, I would also love to hear your experiences with the community. It is by no means all interactions that have been negative for me, and I have met plenty of amazing helpful people on my journey in Lost Ark.

Love ya Puffy, you fight the good fight.

In the end, it’s all about the people we argue with along the way.

If we’re all gonna be in Arkesia, we might as well make it a nicer place ya know? Less toxicity and everything.

I just tell it how it is. You want a smoother experience? Start or join premade raid group. Join MM? Expect new people or those with less experience.

I have said this or something similar to two different groups and not one person was able to comment.

I understand but we as a community need to take more responsibility for people’s toxicity, we can’t just discount MM as this toxic cesspool and not take actions help address that.

I’m not sure where to begin with that. I just try to shut down confrontation when people begin flinging insults or hardcore criticism that comes off as unfair.

The only advice that I can give to others is to lower your expectations and if using too many potions begins to upset you, then either ask who is new or gauge the pt through first pull and don’t waste potions until people learn. It is what it is.

Yeah it just sucks when people are just so toxic in pugs.

ffxiv did this by just banning anyone who was toxic so there is a really good “forced niceness” mentality there

I havent done any of the abyssal dungeons due to the need for everyone to be perfect with the mechanics
I’ve watched guides but at my age my hands aint as nimble as they were and i am prone to mashing buttons

I’ll get there one day when i run out of other mindless shizzle to do :+1:

Its because, imagine u are scouter main, u are so frustrated that u dont have ur main, u just failed 10 honings for a class u will throw away, then now u have to do argos, and u go in argos u see someone has grudge 1, or someone constantly dieing to easy mechanics, while if u were on ur main u would be so happy to help and guide people, but when u are so frustrated, u just put that frustration out and usually explode, which is not good.

That is why people are asking for the class release to be sped-up, so people can start on their main and stop worrying about anything and they can ENJOY the game.

This u?

Maybe check your own toxic behavior first?

You making 100 threads to tell everyone to shut up about honing isn’t being positive. People have legitimate complaints and a forum is a place to share and discuss that feedback.

I never told anyone to “shut up” lol, it was just aimed at people making pointless complaint posts that aren’t productive.

You have every right to have a complaint but there’s a proper way to give feedback and at that time of me making the post, most people were just complaining just to complain without much of anything useful for CMs/Devs to read.

and do you think telling people to “stop crying” is fostering positivity? Just asking.

Your threads are productive?

Again I never said “stop crying”, I said stop complaining in that post which is valid given the timeframe.

Your thread TITLE literally says “stop the constant crying”. :joy: Imagine being quoted and still denying it.

It’s literally not though?

Just quoting your words. Are you claiming you didn’t make that post?

This is the post I made:

Not sure what post you’re referring to, did you just make stuff up in order to win an argument?
