That’s not normal. I have not seen such Q since launch days. What’s going on?
Hello, @scori.
I understand the situation about long queue times and I apologize for that.
Our CM Roxx made an statement about this:
I hope the information helps you understand the situation, and if there’s anything else I can help you with, let me know. Stay safe!
Umm, thanks for reply @Santoryu but it is a bit confusing. It looks like Roxx did not say anything about a bot, so I assume I was not flagged as a bot accidentally or was I?
No one’s getting “accidentally flagged” as bot. So no worries.
OK, that’s great and any do you folks know why all of a sudden today there was this long Q? As I said, I have not seen any queues since the launch days.
There was quite bad lag on and leading days of this week’s reset but that seems to be fixed now.
In other words, I am trying to understand if this is a known issue, have you got other reports? Really appreciate the response, thanks again @Santoryu
Roxx did make a statement about this but it’s not the one he linked. She said that they reduced server capacity on Una to address the lag and load times from earlier this week. That’s why there are queues now
Isn’t Amazon a hosting company (AWS)? How is it that they don’t have the server capacity to flex with load? Doesn’t sound like a cloud provider where I would want my stuff hosted!
This is silly. The queue is over 4K at 2 PM. Anyone with a brain knows this is not because of legit players. And anyone who goes through the sub 50 areas can see the flood of bots. They are super obvious. Maybe you just need to repurpose a couple of your support staff to run around with a ban hammer until you can get a decent automated fix. In the mean time, EAC isn’t doing crap and makes the game launch times ridiculously slow, and the “fixes” you put on for bots aren’t working. The player base is getting pissed. Either give more server capacity to run the game, or make the bot fixes top priority. To do otherwise will result in lost revenue and a stain on your company name (and I don’t just mean AGS).
If I understand the problem properly, it is an either or situation. They have capacity to increase the servers, but when they do, now more servers need to sync with each other, which means lag. I am guessing they are trying to find a happy medium here.
It sounds like a protocol problem to me, it is natural that with more servers you will have more lag so interesting problem there.
There is a 3 word solution to that … IBM Z Series ![]()
But since I know gaming companies are always trying to skimp on hardware, that won’t happen. And if the issue is syncing, then it sounds like they have a pretty bad SAN or database infrastructure.
This says “Let me just start with saying that Mainframe is not a gaming platform. It is a transaction beast built to process millions of transactions per second - transactions that are critical to our everyday lives, to live our life as we know it.”
Not to be too simplistic, but MMOs from the server side are largely transactional databases. If you are having trouble with latency from syncing data, then it would seem pretty straight forward that a more robust DB solution would resolve the problem. Synchronous writes to multiple storage arrays where one is references for sync transactions while the other is running the game. But again, I have yet to see a gaming company that invested sufficiently in its infrastructure. From what I have seen, they only put in place as much is needed to accommodate their forecasts, and when any spike occurs, they flounder.
idk… I have some experience with development but don’t know enough to comment what goes into an MMO. That being said, I disconnected for dinner and came back. 5501 in Q right now. Soo, yeah, latency was bad but this is worse.
I just want to be able to play. lol. 5000k queue on una right now.
Sunday 2022-05-08, Q started with 5K again and after I dont know 30mins+ it is down to 3K, I don’t want to get too frustrated to never touch the game again ,so I will just give up and forget about it today as well.
what support staff?
