I’ve been playing since the early release of the game and I’ve been essentially locked out of my main unless I change it’s ign which I refuse to do so. On 2/12 my main was locked for “using a character name that violates our policy.” My character’s name is Transgender, so I just thought to myself at the time “yeah I probably got reported by some people who are not very kind to LGBTQ+ folks, guess I’ll just submit a ticket and work on something else instead for now.” This was fine to me at the time since I thought it was just auto moderation that kicked in, however I had recently realized that another one of my characters that was never even played and is still level 1 also has the same issue, that character’s ign is Transgirl.
This tells me they went through my names manually after I had been reported and decided that any name trans in nature should not be allowed. I’ve contacted support multiple times and I’ve only received a PR message on 2/14 and nothing further since. I contacted live support today and it seems that they feel this is justified and won’t accept my appeal. I still have yet to receive an email about this.
I’m normally a fairly quiet individual who doesn’t like to cause much trouble, however having something like this happen bothered me way too much to stay silent. LGBTQ+ people constantly have to fight for everything they have and I find it horrible that we have to justify our existence not only in real life, but also in the games we enjoy and love.
I mean from what i know about the internet id imagine the first person who wanted that name probably had some nefarious intent behind why they wanted that name. Like the people who use different spellings of the n word, african, or black in their name.
Now does that mean you were going to? Nope. But you are definitely not the only one who wanted to use that name and id think a lot of people who tried it were going to troll with it

What makes you think you need to fight for anything? And why do you think the world needs to know about your orientation? I don’t understand the need behind letting the entire human race know about one’s orientation.
Transparent attempt to troll then hide behind a protected group. They shouldn’t allow these names & I’m glad they didn’t. Just name your characters something fun or cute within the spirit of playing a game & having fun. I don’t see this as censorship or discrimination.
You are forgetting that there are words which have a different meaning when different people say it. You might me a transgender individual and you saying you are it’s fine. If a person who isn’t one and calling himself/herself that, it could be seen a mockery. It’s like the “n” word, if you’re caucasian don’t say it, simple as that. I easily can accept this restriction because of how words can be used and twisted to harm others.
I was a moderator on discord for mobile games for years and I was in charge of the censorship so this is very easy to speak about for me. They do not intend to insult you or any trans people, it’s to avoid idiots from mocking others, the so called keyboard warriors.
If this was the case the support agent should have said so. If their policy deems the word “transgender” as explicit or abusive language then that is clearly discrimination.
That OP thinks its ok to use a term that represents an identity/gender minority group as character name or you think AGS is just discriminating which one?
I want to preface this by saying Im not heterosexual. Im also not trans. I understand some of the discrimination you face, but not all of it, and certainly not your individual experience of it. I would like to share my thoughts on this issue thought from my own perspective.
I don’t see their actions as discriminatory, it’s a preventative measure to stop trolls using certain worlds in an inflammatory manner that would be damaging to the LGBTQI+ community. The Moderation team have no way to tell if a player intends to use the term because it genuinely represents them, because they want to use it to make others uncomfortable or because they just want to sexually fetishize trans people.
If you want to highlight trans issues in game, find a dyeable outfit and use the flag colours to make it look cute. Create or join a guild focused on inclusiveness. Find famous trans role models and name your character in tribute to them.
You also don’t have to do any of these things if you are tired of feeling like you constantly have to advocate for your identity, and if that’s the case, it might be for the best to forgo character names that will put you in the position of having to do so.
You still have plenty of options to be your own unique identity and represent yourself as trans in game.
