Well, I had to completely wipe my OS. Get everything reinstalled and ready to go. Fun times.
I had to make the decision to finally use a VPN as the 3000 to 17000 ms latency spikes were killing me and since there are two of us working from home, the companies were not happy. The ISP here will not do anything to really facilitate a solution until the problem explodes in their face. And this is a monopolized market so there is no choices.
I have played a lot of games but never ones that ban VPN’s. I didn’t realize that was really a thing. Most ones I play use authenticators so as to verify you are indeed logging in.
So long story short by the time I figured out how to get the Lost Ark client to bypass the VPN it was, “Wham, Bam, you are Banned!” The lovely message [10010].
Going to be honest, after finding it is this way for all of the games from this company I won’t be coming back. Authentication via a dongle or smartphone is not new tech. And people who are trying to actually play the game and have fun should not be swept up in the process.
The concept posited by others that legitimate players never violate the TOS, I would ask you this, how do you know this to be true? I must not be a legitimate person.
Saddest part is despite all the bots, I was actually having fun. So was the other half, and they will be bummed to find out they can’t play now either.
Good luck with your games.
