Hi, Thrud. I will pass your feedback along to the team.
Thank you! ![]()
Consider people with hand disabilities.
I have used a tartarus thumbstick for movement in mythic tier endgame content for years so kindly refrain from telling me what is optimal for me.
Also some of the best comperetive isometric games of recent times have used this system. Eg. Battlerite.
Counterpoint - some of the most popular games of this type donāt utilize a WASD movement method at all (the Diablo series, League of Legends, etc.) and still have billions of dollars and international success regardless.
However, thatās why thereās controller support for Lost Ark. That was added in addition to the āpoint and clickā method as an alternative for people needing it.
Not everything is 100% for everyone - and thatās okay! Not everything has to be for everyone all the time.
OK, you want to derail a perfectly legitimate request that would make thousands of players happy. Well done you!
The fact remains that using a controller in a point and click game is a terribly sub optimal way to play the game at a high level. Mouse control for ground targetting is far quicker and more precise.
Thumbstick control is already implemented, it would not be difficult to add the same tech to the keyboard system.
Bottom line, would this added feature hurt anyone? No. Would it cost much? No. Would it bring in a lot of new players that donāt like point and click to move? Probably. Would it make a lot of existing players very happy? Yes.
Sigh.
You made a post with a request. I explained why itās very likely not to be honored then explained WHY as best as I cared to do typing while on a mobile phone.
Now youāre upset with ME for pointing out the standard for this genre of gaming and citing recent exceedingly popular examples to support my statement ⦠but now Iām āderailing the threadā?
You talk about adding a new control system to a game because another system is in place - even going so far as to say, āit would not be difficultā, which is far from the truth. A new control system adds complexity and, given how the game works, adds new challenges that works need to be figured out and then overcome. WASD movement in an isometric world is punishing enough from a programming standpoint let alone an end-user one.
I understand what your want and Iām taking you want itās not feasible. If your want to go into subsystem control and coding the what you want into the game (thatās been out, and successful without WASD movement for over three years now), I can tomorrow when Iām at an actual keyboard - though I have a feeling youāll just argue with me anyway even though Iām sure you donāt understand how these statement are programmed given your statement of, āwould not be difficultā.
āBottom lineā - Would it hurt to add? No. World it cost much? Yes - in resources already allocated to other things PLUS the new problems that occurred with this launch. Resources are finite so where do you want them placed? World it being in a lot of new players? Not at all. Over three years of the gameās release and itās not been added because itās not a highly requested feature for this genre. If it WAS, it would have already been added. World it make a lot of existing players happy? Most players wouldnāt know it existed or would even care. At best, done works try it then go back to what theyāre familiar with in this genre.
Youāre confusing what YOU want with what the majority of players want. Thatās a bad mistake to make when designing anything. All that being said, good luck on getting your request filled but donāt keep your hopes tempered. History, and popularity, are against your idea.
Now with all that, Iām getting done sleep as itās almost 3:30am here. Itās been a long day.
Sigh, i guess there will always be contrary Karenās like you that love to stick their noses in whenever possibleā¦
Thanks for putting so much energy into countering my point and derailing my thread after a mod had already agreed to forawrd my request to the relevant team!
You could have just ignored it since it has no relevance to you⦠but no. Sleep well.
Iād just like to point out how you said lol is the same type of game as lost ark. Good job mate i r8 8/8
Iād have to say no on the WASD movement on a TOP DOWN MMO for obvious reasons.
When I say WASD, it could also be arrow keys or a re-mapped thumbstick or gamepad. Press up, you go up. Simple.
What āobvious reasonsā are you talking about⦠you make no sense.
Apologies, you spoke earlier like you knew optimal ways to play games like this so I just assumed youād know why a top down game wouldnāt work with WASD, obviously.
The fluidity that you have currently is because you can move in any direction. If you apply WASD movements you have to create an 8 layer movement pattern for all maps.
So not only would they have to redo all of their maps in the game, theyād have to redo all of their combat animations to match these 8 direction movements.
I think the mod was just being kind, but like the previous person above me said, Iād put money on this never happening.
Hope that makes more sense, and now you know how to optimally play a top down combat game with open maps. ![]()
What a patronising tone, well done ![]()
A thumbstick, as implemented on a controller is 8-way minimum, which is the functionality i am asking for and already exists in the game.
Redo combat animations? Haha, dont be ridiculous! I am talking about character movement, the mouse still controls direction and aimi g, or didnāt you understand that part?
Pressing A+W together traditionally would result in a diagonal movement In many isometric games.
A and W, right. Which is why I said 8 and not 4.
Again, not going to happen; I wish you luck.
Please never consider WASD movement, it would ruin the game.
The game is already 10years+ in development and has been, from the start, be developed to be played with those controls. You are not the first one who brought it up and the korean developers already said ānoā to this.
Instead of trying to change the game, Iād recommend that you either get used to it or look for a game with controls that you like.
I always hated tab targeting combat but instead of going to games like WOW and complain about it not being action combat, I simply didnāt play the game and chose one that had it (Tera/BDO).
ARGH!
NO ONE GETS IT!
I DONāT WANT TO USE AWSD - I WANT THE FUNCTIONALTY OF AWSD SO I CAN USE A THUMBSTICK ON A GAMEPAD LIKE THE RAZER TARTARUS FOR CHARACTER MOVEMENT!
THUMBSTICK MOVEMENT IS ALREADY SUPPORTED IN THIS GAME!
WHY IS THIS SO HARD TO COMPREHEND!
Iām done. Peace.
As you probably know, you arenāt alone. Several friends and I tried out Lost Ark when it released in the US. We agreed that it had 90% of what weāre looking for in a game, but the lack of WASD, which seems like it would be easy to implement, was a deal breaker. We tried it, but it just felt awkward, even after a few multi-hour sessions. One friend started having trouble gripping things after playing despite playing heaps of other MMOs regularly.
At first I thought there might be an issue with baking in the character rotation animation into the skill usages, but it sounds like people have managed to use 3rd party software to fool the game into working fine with WASD⦠so it canāt be too hard to a technical challenge. Now Iām guessing the developers figure it would be too much of a competitive advantage over the folks who play the game as currently designed.
Es wƤre echt nice wen man die Einhandtasterur Razer tatarus V2 oderPro nutzen kƶnnte.
There are plentiful ways to change settings so why not add a WASD option. There are so many pathways that are just blocked by an invisible wall and playing with a controller sometimes makes it easier, esp like in Metus isle ![]()
