I bought 72k gold worth of the honing boxes from the Toad to save for future characters yesterday after the update. Because my roster storage is tight, I transferred them to a Lopang alt thinking there’d be no problem getting them to my artist once she’s released. Tonight I got on and I start hearing people can’t move their honing boxes anymore. My heart sank when I then saw the announcement that they weren’t supposed to be roster-bound, and that “Chests that are in a character’s inventory following the update will become bound to that character”. I had no idea these boxes were going to be suddenly determined to be character bound.
My roster barely makes this amount of gold in a week after spending dozens of hours clearing all my raids, and I just wasted all that gold on boxes that are now bound to a Lopang alt I’m never going to play. Meanwhile I have friends who have over a hundred of each box saved in their roster storage or were able to funnel them to their main, and will reap the full benefit of those boxes.
Please. If I spent gold on something that says “roster bound” I shouldn’t suddenly be screwed over because I didn’t put them in roster storage before a change I had no idea was coming. Any boxes that were purchased before the update should remain roster bound. It’s not fair I paid for a roster-bound product that is now bricked because I stored it on an alt I don’t play. The fact that I just had 72k gold (worth about 7k RC on NAE) thanos snapped is making me reconsider playing this game.
I hope you’re right, but the announcement they posted earlier states “Chests that are in a character’s inventory following the update will become bound to that character.” So unless they change course it sounds like I’ve been completely screwed.

I heard ppl spent all their bound GHL on an alt to push it to 1490. Now they announced refunding it. Therefore, it would be interesting to see if enough ppl complain and then AGS ends up doing a negative balance on something. I imagine it would be negative gold? But even then they got it at a discount, so it’s still a win for ppl who used it before the “refund” announcement.
I believe the best solution, in this case, is to revert the frozen chests, and just keep them as is. Then they wouldn’t have the seek out a solution that seems fair. It would just remain fair for the most part if they re-enable their mistake and just live with it, no?
what are you even talking about? when someone used the mat chests, obviously they wont get the refund. If they didnt use them yet, they get the refund gold. So how can someone get negative gold in any of the cases?
