Putting players negative balance with a currency is always a punishment. It is strictly reserved for RMT buyers, cheaters, dupers and exploiters.
AGS actually had the nerve to accuse players who were online and claimed system mail as “exploiters”. Allowing them to take this harsh punishment against us. It’s shocking this is how they view some of their best customers – the ones who paid USD for extra character slots.
The mail was warning players about the Tripod changes and urging us to prepare. Tripods cost 7 Pheons each and each character needs 18. Receiving 10 free Pheons per character, out of the 126 needed, did not seem out of the ordinary but rather a much-needed and well-timed gift.
Following this, they actually confirmed the Pheons were safe to use!
So many players were already done with their Pheon preparation. However this warning and the free Pheons attached jebaited them. They bought Tripods for an alt outside their top six. Now they are stuck with the bill having to pay full price for what they were assured would be free.
While everyone else is at +60 free Pheons, these players have a negative balance along completely unnecessary tripods they were tricked into purchasing. There is no option to refund the purchase. Swiping is the only way out of Pheon jail.

I like how some people say that ags gave 10 pheons PER CHARACTER and it wasn’t sus
The #1 issue is that they officially stated that they would not take back the pheons, so players spent the pheons they received. At that point the pheons were theirs because AGS said so. Then the next day AGS changed their mind just because. They lied and tricked people. That’s called a scam.
“Fairness” only applies when it could be a financial loss for them. AGS picked the stupidest hill to die on to screw over their loyal players (aka those who are still in the negatives after the 60 pheon compensation).

I like how AGS has many white knights here. Are they paid? Or are they just on COPIUM, after crying and demanded “fairness”, realizing now they chased away 25% of the player base?
When you demand an incompetent company into action you are playing with fire. And we are all burned. The Steam charts speak for themselves.

Why are you defending yourself to me and attacking me? I don’t care man. Yeah they said it was safe to use and then took the pheons back, dick move. But they won’t give those pheons back.

You are implying that players who happened to be online and used a gift sent directly from AGS, after being assured it was safe to spend, are somehow at fault.
I.E. you are parroting the total lie AGS posted claiming players exploited. And that their correction which punishes 5.8% of active players, is somehow fair. You understand that punishing 5.8% of a group for doing nothing wrong is not fair, right?
And you are now sensitive and asking why we are being mean to you? Have some self-awareness.
The problem of taking the pheons is as follows:
First they give pheons. To players who have more chars, and who also managed to grab them with all, they give more.
Then they declare it was mistake, which was odd by itself, and odd how they would be as petty as to declare they will take them back, since the amounts weren’t really that big anyway. But none of that is yet important.
After several hours of useless downtime, servers are back and little later they tell us, whoever got those pheons, can keep them.
So either before, or at this stage, some players go and spent the pheons, on the premise that we we correctly given them. Some players could spent the pheons on less important things, because they thought those pheons are completely fucking free. And at that stage they were. If you’d had to earn the pheons, you’d be more careful about using them for more important things.
Now, understandably, some players who claimed nothing, or who claimed only some of what they could, are upset. This is very very understandable, as to some players the pheons are a big deal. If you are low or out, and you need to buy them, it takes a lot of gold to buy them.(now, calling these players with insults aren’t very constructive or useful to anyone in long term)
As a sollution, AGS desides to fuck the players who went to use the pheons they got, buying stuff they wouldn’t have brought, if they would have had to pay for the pheons. It doesn’t even matter if they went into negative, what matters is they were effectively baited to spend pheons on the premise that those pheons were free.
Fixing unfairness with other kind of unfairness, ain’t fair. It’s not proper. If players who weren’t impacted here, don’t care about how things should be handled in principle, then AGS will come around later, and fuck you in some other way.
Everyone should care about everyone being threated fair.

Well attack all you want I dont really care. Most people spent their pheons for tripod upgrade before ags told them it was safe to spend anyways. I have enough selfawareness thank you. You are free to attack me now if it is how it works, not that you need permission for that. Thank god internet. 
I wasn’t blaming anyone. Like I’ve said on my 2nd sentence of this post, people saw an opportunity and took it. Without thinking it was suspicious. Now they come here and say ags gifted (?) those pheons. Seems to me it was an obivious bug. If some people spent their pheons after ags said it was safe to use, those are the people that I understand and agree with.

How is this sus ?
I have 10 chars.
Tripod update is coming - A mail is coming “Hey, buddy, dont forget tripod change!:)))” and I get enough for 1 and 1/2 tripod ( ok, THAT part was sus, 7 or 14 would make more sense, but giving us 10 would mean we had to buy for an extra item, and they’d earn more money… Actually not sus ) per character.
I mean, I have to fix tripods on every character, so why would I think it was sus they gave me a little boost to help with that ? At best it would help me get 3 lvl 5 tripods.
This all comes back to the fairness being they said “Here, you have it” “We lied KEKW” "oh, now you owe us and you have to spend Gold =/= Real money to not owe us anymore "
Sure, I got to keep the items I purchased with the pheons. But… It was used in impulse cause I was thinking “Oh, wait… I have 100 pheons… I can gear my gunslinger!” - What happends instead ?
I have a geared gunslinger that will remind me of the time I was ensured I couldn’t really trust the statements of AGS anymore . But atleast I have the items eh ?
Ever since this incident I haven’t really bothered with the forums cause I know that I might get happy for something only to have it removed.

The 60 pheons / 1 legendary engraving they have given us has indeed made this a easier pill to swallow, and I am starting to see they might have understood the problem of their error and we HOPEFULLY will not have the same incident again.
Fact still is tho, I was punished for spending money on AGS/SG, and that part really sux.
If I had not bought extra slots ( I have 10 ) - I would not have stayed in the negative, and I would not be affected by the negative at all.
the thing is, why are people fine with paying for THIER fuckup? I don’t understand.

ok so, A) you’re right, math is hard. Because having 6 characters = 60 pheons. minus those 60 puts you negative if they were spent. compensation for everyone is 30 pheons. -60 + 30 = -30. or is my math wrong?
and B) no, everyone is not back to the same amount of items. people are still posting negative pheon counts.
