The quest is showing in my completed list but It never updated for me in the Welcome Challenge section.
Revisited the island but nothing seems to update the status.
If anyone ever gets this hurdle, basically long story short, you can do the quest on both a male and female character, you can only finish this on a female.
(not sure if intended or a bug)
