What are upcoming things to look forward to that are not shallow (no iLVL stuff/ eternal loop)

Hey all, I bet some of you have more info on the state/ updates in SA. Could you please help me, are there upcoming updates that add things in this list:

  • Ingame obtainable pets, mounts and skins
  • More instruments? I see an instrument tab in the character profile, thats cool! Will we be able to collect other instruments? Or are they cash shop only?
  • More islands?
  • Any other interesting systems that will be added that are not tied to the shallow iLVL loop?

the only 2 things ive seen are a waterpark to play in and a really sick update to housing that we probably wont see for a year where the seasons in your stronghold change and you can decorate INSIDE your mansion. The deco inside also has an achievements trophy room where you can display your in game achievements. Its actually really sick. As far as gameplay though, it doesnt look like theres shit other than a couple more raid bosses and 2 new continents that well prob finish in a day lol

oh the stronghuld stuff sounds cool! Animal crossing is very popular, liked it and always wished it was more of a MMO. Can’t really enjoy the stronghold in it’s current form, it feels unfinished, almost like a prototype… but with a lot of potential!

I agree,

T1 and T2 were so much fun, but it stops being a fun game once you enter the raid treadmill. Running the same raid on 6 chars to progress and that progress is just a hardmode? Feels boring to me.

I honestly dont understand why SG went that path, after having a game which was so different to all the other MMOs. Discovering islands and their story, collecting things, building a stronghold and ships, unlocking NPC´s, Events… it was really fun and different to other MMOs.

Did it not work in KR or why change the game so much over time? Why focus on raid content so much if you miss out on the chance to offer a different MMO experience?

The whole sailing content just feels unfinished, I can collect items but they have no use or its a one time only thing to get the soul. Same with Strongholds and Rapport system. I would even say the crafting system is pretty empty.

Besides flares and pots, maybe a treasure map or trade skill tool there is nothing of use. Taking a break until hopefully more of the original content is released seems reasonable to me, also since its summer time.

Happy for those that like raiding, but for me LA missed an opportunity here.

Yes, feels the same for me. There is so much beauty in the game. I personally love the islands and all the small stories on them. You could say that is reward enough. When I found that disco island, I saw a NPC there were you can buy those glowing bracelets, I really loved that! I buy them a lot, and go there a lot to buy them (wished they were longer haha than 30 min). I wish each island had something like that, maybe a npc that is only unlockable after completing the island, that gives cool stuff like the disco island bracelets or the punika flower hats…

One of the things I love most in this game is the world leave farming for some reason. The rewards tied to them is also great!

That kind of content has an incredibly fast burn rate. A lot of effort for something you probably were done with in the first few weeks. imo it wasn’t very good either, I just want high quality raids and to raidlog without all this grind.

Cause they run out really fast
Most people cleared all of this on the first month, and content takes time to make. MMOs are some of the most content hungry genres out there, and thats why they become so grindy/repetitive, a helpless attempt to paddle things out.

There are many continents to come yet (both for us and to be developed for KR), but these things take time and are not sustainable as the core loop for your average mmo sweaty.

I agree that sailing and rapport are terrible

(btw sorry for saying the exact same thing the other person just commented, i didn’t notice it)

I don’t understand, when I was a kid I used to play a mmorpg called Cabal Online, I think I played it for 5 or 6 years straight, with out ever running out of stuff to do. How can modern MMORPG’s fail so miserably?

->People got older and more skilled. See how classic wow turned out to be, people clear those raids (which would take days/weeks in terms of difficulty) in a matter of hours after launch. This is both related to the amount of information we have avaible, but also skill overall. Our progression speed increased a lot.

->complexity of content. Its much harder/more expensive to make content for modern games. More voice lines, assets (and they look better), and much more testing. The more complex your game gets, the more things need to be properly working or else you get a buggy fiesta. Look at how new world turned out to be, the game doesn’t even have swimming animations and its severely bugged on a core level. Thats what happens when you release content faster than you should/can.

->nostalgia. This might not be necessarily the case, but most games we previously played are way more interesting than they actually were. One huge aspect of mmos back then was socialization, going through mindnumbly long and shallow tasks didn’t feel that bad cause the whole novelty of doing it with other people was still fascinating. Nowadays we take that for granted and focus entirely on the gameplay, which leads to a need for morre quality and engaging content, which is not simple to do.

I can’t really talk about FFXV, but it really comes to mind. I wish to one day play this game in order to be more educated on the matter and see if it goes against some of the things we described here.

lastly, i guess priorities just shifted, maybe? I don’t know how to properly describe this, but in some way games became more of a profitable business that they have ever been. And part of it includes trying to reach an acceptable product with as little effort as possible. Maybe games stopped being masterpieces cause things way below that still sell well.
