Mixed, but the majority of pugs go just fine overall. Maybe someone doesn’t want to use flares or potions, or maybe someone dies a bunch and the rest of us have to be careful not to eat a death, but we finish the encounter and get our rewards.
Rarely I get into those parties where everything goes wrong at once and I just have to eat my losses on consumables, but that’s just part of the pugging experience and to be expected sometimes.
I think it’s important not to get fluffed up over the small incidents if you’re going to voluntarily use matchmaking. Be a perfectionist with other like minded players by using group finder or joining a guild with other players like yourself. Out of hundreds of times using matchmaking, I only remember two where something really toxic happened like someone spamming quit requests after they ate all our deaths, or was talking trash.
I don’t know if this is just a problem with my server, NA west, bergstrom, however I seem to either get solid parties that can complete within a few tries, or at least one or two people who can hardly speak english, we spend literally two hours trying to do the abyss but the person repeatedly fails the mechanic then everyone’s gear breaks and we quit. This has happened to me on three separate occasions. Examples being white yellow boss and alaric sanctuary final boss.
I’m used to playing games based on suffering and unreasonable time sinks for little gain, so not a big deal for me. Feel bad for the people in my parties tho.
I play on Beatrice and it’s a hit or miss. I’ve mostly had pleasant experiences in matchmaking, but I’ve also had a few experiences that trump over all other positive experiences.
I’m also mechanically very skilled at games in general so I try to carry people and it might be one of the reasons why I can’t really complain about bad experiences.
I guess Alaric’s Sanctuary has been the worst when pugging because I play a class with shitty stagger DPS and it’s difficult to carry 7 other people even in 1350 gear, mainly because the final boss is such a nuisance if people don’t do what they are supposed to.
I usually tend to avoid pugs because I have 6 characters and I want to quickly get raids over with and only join groups where people are 90+ roster level
Generally cool and laid back. Had a few fails with pugs but nothing to make me reconsider pugging. I think most of the people that would make it bad spend their time talking crap and big noting themselves in chat and not playing so all good.
I think moderators are needed for chat, not all the time, but it goes overboard a lot.
