My friend and i are debating what drives the cost but we aren’t 100% sure, does high sale of Royal Crystals drive prices of blue crystals? Surely people aren’t buying blue crystals at these absurd prices, does anyone know why inflation is continuing, is it just the summer skins?
Its supply and demand the higher demand the higher the price. So the more royal crystals to meet the demand the less the price of the crystals.
Right i assumed something of the sort, so i imagine since less people are turning to RMT and also selling summer skins for gold it’s driving prices through the roof. So even if people are only buying royal crystals will still drive up blue crystals?

The demand for blue crystals is still the same, the amount of blue crystals generated by people buying gold has diminished so… prices go up.

Anyways its more gold just buying summer skins and selling them.
A factor is also how much gold is being generated in the system.
I can name a few.
- Biggest one is what @Jessique says buying gold with royal crystal got butchered by 3 day restriction is due to bots using credit card fraud to get free Punika powerpass characters by doing chargeback
- those punika powerpass character will start doing Thronespire for 2 free grudge books and sell them for more gold. Then those gold goes to RMT asap before they get banned for credit card fraud. All of this can be done in 1-2hours. Then Powerpass got disabled after that.
- Supply and Demand for royal crystals.
- Bots
Super simple, due to the 3 day witholding period, not many people swipe.
No one buys gold cuz he needs it in 3 days, you buy gold cuz u need it NOW.
While nothing has changed and people still have the same amount of gold to buy, the supply has decreaased dramaticaly.
If it was a gold inflation problem, you would see honing mats prices increase a lot too, but they stayed the same.
the 3 day withholding is one of factors it is going up
the 3 days holding period is a way minor part of it, its simply as Vacgod said, you make more gold buying summerskin and selling on AH, sometimes up to 2x as much, thats the number 1 reason why barely anyone goes to currency exchange in the first place
the 3 day period mostly just makes it so less people spend in the first place but if you had those extra people spending they would for the most part also buy summer skins instead of currency exchange
also lastly people are buying these blue crystals since the demand is higher right now because of the express event and honing buffs so more people are in a position to use pheons
These are the most wanted skins in the whole game. Not only are they the most wanted skins, they’re locked behind Royal Crystals. Not only are they locked behind Royal Crystals, but now there’s an artificial 3-day lock down period which made them even more scarce and because buying gold with Royal Crystals is no longer a fast-loan option for the whales: This all spiraled the economy into the sinkhole where it was when RMTing was at it’s peak, because when a skin that costs 8k gold in RC sells for 15k → the RC price will increase until it hits that equal value with the skin price because players will be only selling skins when it’s more profitable than converting the RC’s
So while the economy revived from the botting world war, the devs decided to ruin the macro economy completely for the playerbase with the 3-day hold system that has served absolutely no purpose for us what-so-ever
While I think that criticism towards the devs is almost always unwarranted here on the forums: This and the whole ID system change has been nuclear waste levels of toxic horrible decision and these decisions stemming from the idiotic removal of the ID system has caused the game to lose majority of it’s playerbase already. If none of this was necessary and we wouldn’t have ever had the issue of bots effecting the macro market we might still have hundreds of thousand of more active players
It’s just so absurdly baffling that they have an amazing team that is responding quickly to all the needs and complaints of the playerbase, but then they seem to be absolute morons when it comes to this stuff, as if they’re only nodding to some horribly toxic big boss that is not only dumb and wrong, but sadly powerful enough of an entity in the company that they can enforce horrible decisions like this on the game. Whoever that person is: I hope they get fired. That’s how much I like this game and how frustrating it is to know that there’s someone heinous behind the wheel somewhere
When people have to much gold, mats prices go up, like they did when the RMTing was a huge issue, but they dont.
Tell me a reason why anyone would sell blue/royal crystals, when u cant use it for an item you want…
Its player base driven market.
Once summer skins will be no longer purchasable in Item Shop and there will be no other sexy skins to buy with Royals, the price of Blue Crystals should be falling, hopefully down

Not many people want to buy gold at bad rates either. It goes the other way as well.
for an example, if somebody wanted and item or books that cost 100k, who wants to spend 238 royal crystals per 300 gold? That’s insanely poor value just like 100 blue crystals for over 1k gold.
Less people buying gold = higher blue crystals rates. More people buying gold = lower crystal rates. There needs to be a balance between the values of both.

→ Everyone has many more alts compared to 1-2 months ago, thanks to powerpasses and honing buffs;
→ the three day hold on gold purchases makes rage honing and fomo purchases from auction house less common
→ People who didn’t get far early on are finally catching up with current content, and making as much gold as everyone else;
→ Pheons for new alts. As people start to get their alts to 1370 / 1415, they want new acessories for these characters. These need pheons, which are bought with blue crystals.
→ summer skins are more profitable than buying gold directly from currency exchange, and they have have the same time frame to be used (also 3 days)
Players earning more gold. Doing argos busses,hard valtan and normal vykas on 1445 characters triples your weekly income vs the previous park spot of 1370. The inflation will only get worse.
No, because inflation is reflected in the entire market, not just 1 good.
