Probably $10000 or more since release.
If you’re not in the top 0.1% of players then your not a whale, and the only way to get there is to be a streamer or to buy your way. I’m talking the 1475+ guys and no one is there F2P.
If you’re $10k in the your probably a whale but even that’s pretty low. I was a whale on Trove and Neverwinter and I spent over $20,000 on each but to date I’ve only spend $1000 on here and I’m no where close to being a whale. Hell, I’m not even in the same ballpark.
I dont think u need to spend $10000 to get to 1475 if you played the game a lot…
Even a few hundred is enough
Whale? You spelt shroud/rich wrong.
A Whale is a big fish.
… yeah nobody answered that … sorry.
It’s funny that you read my post and then completely missed what I said ![]()
I never said you had to spend 10k to get to 1475, I said that no one who is 1475+ is F2P.
I also said was that a whale is a player in the top 0.1% and that I suspect that spending 10k would get you there.
If you want to disagree with something I say then that’s fine but please actually read what I write first.
I’d say someone who spends couple thousand a month should be considered a whale.
If its couple hundred, may a dolphin.
Anything below is a shrimp at best.
have anyone mentioned megalodon
Pretty much any answer is going to be subjective, but that said - and conceding ppl don’t have to think logically and just go with gut ‘this is a whale because he/she spends more than me’ reaction -
I would say a decent logical way is to say if you are in the top 6.25% of spenders for LA, then you are a whale.
Why 6.25%?
Because in the United States, percentage of population that are multi-millionaires is 6.25%. Not talking a mere 1 mil, which a great many more qualify, the proportion of multimillionaires is 6.25%
Seems decent scale to define ‘whale’ as.
My lord, that is one hell of a false equivalence.
Just because 6.25% of Americans are millionaires does not mean that 6.25% of players on a Western release are also millionaires. Its a completely different demographic for one.
Its like you’ve said that because humans breath oxygen and tigers breath oxygen then all humans are also tigers ![]()
it’s not about the specific number, the value “requirement” varies. “A Whale” is just an undefined term for the top 2% spending players that generates about 40% of your total revenues.
And it’s a more then 1000€ in LA. This is quite expensive game.
Theyre not fish, theyre mammals.
What is a whale?
A miserable little pile of receipts.
(Disclaimer: This is a reference.)
If you spend more on the game a month than you do your rent or mortgage… you are a whale.
A whale is simply Someone that does Shop progress, If its gearscore, gems, engravings, rapport, Accessoires. doesnt matter
You don’t need to be a whale to be 1475+ at all. Myself and a couple of my friends have gotten to 1470 just fine f2p minus founders packs. Playing a lot of alts and having characters at 1370 will generate a lot of gold. As long as you know when to buy different materials/sell items you can progress quite fast as a f2p.
Your reading comprehension needs work. Never said 6.25% was millionaires. In fact, specifically said there are far more than that if only counting 1 mil rather than more selective multi-millionaires.
And I also never said 6,25% of LA population are whales. I made, and still stand by, an equivalence statement.
If someone is going to call someone a whale, first it is purely subjective - as I pointed out literally first sentence of my post. Did you even read it, or comprehension issues? And being subjective, I also conceded it could literally be ‘this guy spends more than me so a whale’
So what I offered, as one logical way to look at it is if you need to define a sub spectrum of population that are elite, scarce, etc - but not so super tiny fraction, then multi millionaires seem decent analogy.
Not as common as single million worth ppl but not so rare like billionaires your entire list would be tiny.
This analogy to me fits LA bc even if 1 ‘whale’ provided 50% of LA cash income, why would players care? Whales need to be enough in both volume of players and impact on economy for ppl to have any sense in complaining about whales.
If it is literally only 100-200 whales with +20, 25 etc weapons, who cares. That small a number of players won’t affect most ppl being passed over trying to get into a party finder, etc. Just not enough of them.
So you’d need ‘whales’ to logically be at a defined point where there are enough both in volume, and the market affecting impact they have. That fits multi-millionaires.
RMTer’s are not really whales because they buy gold 4 times cheaper than through in-game shop…
A true whale doesnt care how much he spends, he just gets what he wants. True whales consider thousands or hundreds of thousands used at the in-game shop as pocket money.
Have you had a recent stroke? That’s a long rant for someone who clearly doesn’t know what they wrote ![]()
