In exchange, we do a bit less damage than normal DPS, which is completely stupid.
The damage we do should be exactly in the middle of Pala/Bard and normal DPS, instead, we are just doing a little less than normal DPS…
It kind of make me feels like Great Axe in New World, there has to be a developer in charge that favor Gunlancer like New World dev. favor Great Axe.

They certainly improve but they’re not higher DPS given the same gear and player skill as;

It’s the backwards jump for me. I can’t be bothered to use my spacebar. My IQ is below the threshold to use the spacebar action. If I were to use it I would have to be a 360 MLG no scope sniper god with .5 sec reaction time to spot and kill an enemy. Other than that I got no problems with gunlancer.

while gun lancer is lower than those classe on trixion on actual boss with deadly mech uptime is king the differance between a good and bad dps is uptime
and guesse what it is a lot easier to get a good uptime on gunlancer than with any of those classe
so unless you try to play your dps like a hero and risking to troll the run by tryharding to have a perfect uptime witch is by the way not a good thing

Well, it is an advantage in Progression, but as soon as everyone nailed the raid and base attack animation down the uptime difference shrinks A LOT.
Vatlan for example, there is only downtime when he spins.
Red 5x3 Gunlancer dps is 3.1mil in perfect condition at 1480s(100% head attacks) currently, and a lot of classes can breach 4mil easily, that only requires 75% of gunlancer’s uptime.
In practice gunlancer damage in a non head attack position is 50% of what it should be and realistically speaking you are looking at 60% head attack optimally.
In my opinion its good design if you can overgear content, go back and own it, its fun. Makes progression more meaningful.

red gunlancer is a burst classe to get 100% uptime he need to hit the boss for 3 sec during buff to have perfect uptime and he can cheat this out by face tanking the 3 sec he need and no you get a lot more than 60% head attack if you do your playing the classe wrong
and no in valtan you have a lot of downtime if you press your spell and cd like on trixion you are going to get at best interrupted and do 0 dps at worst fall and die you have to actually wait and hit when he do a punishable pattern
gunlancer dps has the best quality when it come to high-end content

There is a reason why blue is the meta in KR, because given 50% head attacks blue is more damage, red out damages blue if you have 60% or more head attack. Often, damage is around equal. You are often the only one with head attach in the raid too, meaning boss will turn around a lot as you charge. During the raid my surge cannon is 70% head attack and charged stinger is 50% for the exact reason.
Except for the mechanic that everyone has to do, there is barely anything forces other classes to be stop hitting if you are at the edge of valtan’s butt besides the time valtan chooses to spin, and even then red gunlancer need to dodge that too due to inferior shield comparing to blue.
i deleted gunlancer after reaching t3 i was copium that is gona be better and more fun to play but this class honestly so slow and boring ![]()
Huh? I’m a GL main (1480 atm), and I promise you anyone at 1580 can solo bus Valtan lmao. GL is a very strong class, but the main downside is super obvious to anyone whos played it. Our DPS is not even in the same realm as pure DPS classes.
Even Red GLs do less than Destroyers, who are for all intents and purposes just Red GLs with less super armors (but still a pretty significant amount).
It would be absolutely insane to expect GLs to do the same amount of raw output as a pure DPS class like Sorcs/Gunners/Martial Artists/Assassins while providing the level of raid utility we do.
Miss your Shout of Hatred due to bosses having iframes for jumps and various attacks.
You’ll see the downside real quick.
Even when you know mechanics those random seed attacks can screw you.
On the other side my Blade can just not get hit by those due to ample mobility.
The difference between a good an bad GL is knowing you can drop your shield and hop before an attack saving you shield and knowing when something that often wipes people like green hand wolf attack is coming and you can shield them. They happen to have my fav ulti also. I don’t care much for Damage ones. Utility ones can be pretty clutch though.
