Why are U still playing Lost Ark EU/NA? And what is positive for you in here?

ok and? I don’t want to play with 100 ping, so I won’t. People play with 200 ping bc they have to, and that decision is up to them. There is also a risk of getting banned for using a VPN, so I am not gonna play in a different region because of the contents the Western version doesn’t have yet just to get unlucky and permanently banned, and waste all the time I have put in. Just because you don’t like the reason why I refuse to play in a different region that speak/type a WHOLE different language, you don’t get to call me childish lmao. Calling people opinion childish is the most childish thing I have ever seen. I guess you are entitled to your own opinion but keep it for yourself and don’t force it onto other people.

Just because other people have a bad time with the game doesn’t mean you have the right to force me to have a bad time with the game as well. LOL

You are exactly proving my point.

You have 1200+ hours of investment in this game. This goes far and beyond the average time, a person takes to be trapped in the sunk cost fallacy and develop Stockholm syndrome. People who suffer these kinds of psychological effects do not realize and will never admit to it, that’s why they are very powerful. Your disliking of people who criticize and complain ( not make excuses ) about things that have no net negative for your experience, further proves your attachment.

No, you do not have to play by the rules they set. This is a product and AGS & SG are providing that product. The rules are set by the consumer and customer, not the company. If the company does not listen or goes against it, the consumer stops consuming, the project fails and the company loses money. It is extremely sad that you think that the company sets the rules.

If you do not like complaints and they give you a headache, why not stop reading feedback forums. Those are mostly for people to ask for changes. This might also be a symptom that you are enervated that they are criticizing this game, which further proves my first point.

Keeping your head down helps no one, not even yourself. As I said, you are perpetrating consumer irresponsibility and working without pay against other consumers.

I am still playing, because I don’t have any other game. And I am good at this one, so why not keep playing until I may or may not meet a challenging fight?

Honestly, I am just desperate for a good looking MMO(A)RPG. WoW, FF14, GW2 and those are just boring to play and look at. They feel lifeless. Lost Ark is flashy and at the same time pretty enough to satisfy my brain.

Well after 3 releases and they admitting that legion raids makes the game, for actually gameplay. Its kinda weird we dont have have an honing buff so we can actually play some good gameplay daily. U use so much time and gold to gear up, make a good build. And get to use the power of your char for Max 3 hours a week!!

You’re an intelligent guy so I’m surprised you don’t see the error in your logic. By your logic, whoever defends the game is not only wrong but also suffering from Stockholm syndrome and that the fallacy applies to everyone.

I played 1200 hours simply because I enjoyed it, not because of predatory practices or a psychological dependency.

I see your point of view and the majority might agree with you but I’m just stating my opinion from my personal experience and what I have seen.

I’m not blindly defending the company, even in real life I can’t stand people that complain about everything.

I’m only playing the game about 30 minutes now (more on Wednesdays) but I don’t blame them for me honing to 1490 ahead of schedule.

lowest ping (until i find a vpn for korean server), and i have invested so much into my roster on na. i have nothing better to play and i’m addicted as well

I think I might not be expressing myself enough.

Not every one that defends the game suffers from Stockholm syndrome. I have specifically clarified in both posts that it’s those who defend the game on issues that they are not negatively affected by and give no positives other than feeding their confirmation bias, which feeds the Stockholm syndrome further, but damages other consumers’ experience.

I will leave the two cases as examples:

Defending the company in a way that does not raise concerns for dependencies:

  1. If you defended AGS’s decision to remove the Yoz’s Jar. In this case, those who defended have an argument that leaving this loot box system in the game is detrimental to their experience, so they obtain a net positive of this outcome that coincides with the company’s decision.

  2. Confronting those who ask for nerfs or changes in systems that take away from some to give to others. Again, each player will defend a position that will benefit them and the company will take action to benefit one side or the other. Defending this decision is a net positive since it would probably be your stance.

Defending the company in ways that do raise concerns for dependencies:

  1. Defending the company’s decision to gatekeep content like class releases, skin releases, and other similar features. The release of this content either does not affect your experience ( if u are not interested ) or boosts it. Going against feedback that challenges the company’s decision only creates negatives.

This also includes not releasing challenge guardians or challenge abyss raids at launch, the dead zone is left in-game when KR had removed it, and further aggravating it by putting item level caps at 1370 instead of the original 1355. The list can go on, but you get my point.

You can challenge people on things that they ask for that hurt your experience. However, challenging feedback that only creates positives for the overall game experience, just because “you can’t stand people that complain” is a clear sign of tempering in your psychological state.

As I said before, you are perpetrating consumer irresponsibility and you work without pay against other consumers. Complaints get things changed, keeping your head down just makes the game go downhill slowly. The silent majority will not voice complaints, they will just quit. I support people complaining and I will rally behind those that give feedback that will improve the experience for all so that this game doesn’t go down the route of all Korean MMOs and all of Amazon Game Studios’ dead projects.

yeah i’ve never used a vpn for lost ark, you dont need to have one to play on the western version. a vpn doesnt really mitigate that much ping for it to be extremely useful anyway. but hey, if 100 ping is too much for you then you’re welcome to play minecraft or maybe a single player offline game?

i dont have a bad time with the game regardless of the ping. sure this game would be ridiculously easy if i got to play on 20 ping like a lot of others but instead i gotta be better than average to make sure i dont fail certain things.

Ok and? Im still playing LA in the western server with 20 ping with no vpn bc i live in Texas. I dont see how you came up with minecraft when we were discussing game version from a different region but sure i guess.

Like, people on this post were having some good discussions: dont play the game version from different region, different versions have this and not that, languages barrier while matchmaking with people, etc… —> high ping and possible ban hammer —> and then you came in calling me an entitled child for not want to have a bad experiences —> somehow ignored game regions discussion then back to Western LA —> minecraft and offline game

If the game isn’t out in the West I extremely want to play LA, sure I would VPN the hell out of that thing to Korea. But then I would sacrifice my roster progress of the game in Korea version to play an incomplete version of the game in the west. I would probably just keep playing in Korea tbh.

Why should I sacrifice my progress just to play the contents that the West version don’t have yet but soon will be implemented? It would feel like a big waste of time and this decision would soon be made by the people in Netherlands. They are already playing with a VPN, so will they continue on NA/EU server or just ignore their time contribution into the game and play on their own region server with better ping? The loss of roster progress, collectibles with skill potions and runes, skill points, stronghold researches, leveling 1 character through to whole story line, soul islands, side quests, etc…

There are more to the decision to switch region servers than just “just get a vpn and play it, don’t give me such childish/entitled excuses.” And I would definitely understand people situation, instead of telling them to go play minecraft or singleplayer offline game

Like, I decided not to play for my own reasons. And out of 131 comments here, you are the only one forcing me to do something I don’t like. :man_shrugging:

You list a few bad things, but you fail to see
-Competency in 95% bot removal
-Removal of current and future overly P2W elements
-One of the most challenging content in modern MMOs so far
-Depth of Gameplay Mode, Get carried with gold or bus 4-7 people simultaneously for gold
(Actually night and day gameplay experiences depending on how hardcore you feel like)
For all I know you can bus HM Valtan 6 chars/wk in the future

Having the option to bus players even solo (although you can’t in NA unless you’re really high iLv, 1540+) is extremely interesting already and raises my interest tenfold compared to other games

If you don’t like challenging content and like to chill, well the market is for you.
For a month I stopped going all out and barely touched my chars until they went max rest bonus. Do some calculations and through trial and error you start to see where you can gain money. The result is me at roughly 500k gold value split in many different investments
People say that those with millions of gold are 100% RMT, but it is extremely possible if you play the market right.
I am “not bad” in the market. Many people have much greater game knowledge in KR/RU so they are able to make such bold profiting decisions and I started a bit late.

Likely the time and money invested already and there not being a better game atm to jump ship to.

Because I have stockholm syndrome.

Also, my friends are all beasts. We don’t even have to raid because the bosses decide to throw parties with us instead. The Vykas one was interesting, because nobody knows who the father is, and we don’t care. She doesn’t either, which is funny. Then she gave us mats.

im confused why you’re saying i shouldn’t play the western version as an oceanic player? what am i supposed to do, play on an oceanic region server? are you really that stupid? there’s literally zero language barrier between myself and any american considering i ONLY speak english. the assumption that i can play any other server for good ping means you’re a complete imbecile that doesnt understand that some people have zero choice about playing this game on ping or not. clearly you’re an entitled Karen that just assumes everything. i guess that’s just how a large portion of americans think these days.

Because I like the game and not see too many mistake so far.
-issues: all game have some problem but I think the game now is a good spot.
-dealys: vykas release 1 week later not big issue for me, at least I can collect more gold to buy grudge, and come on,its only 1 week not 1-2 month delay.
-missinformation: I asume the stronghold honing buff. That is not nececary missinformation. They dont want to release the honing buff, but because the delay they gift us the buff.

  • bugs: lots of game have way more bugs, I not found buggy at all.
  • Nerf: nerfing abyssal dungeon because player complain, or your problem is a class blanace?.
I think balancing class As much As its possible always a good things. Even class that nerfed not means its not playable, but more fair comper to other class, so I like the nerf, and buffs.
-deleted content: As far As I know mostly because comunity just dont want that skins, so its more like the comunity fault
-rng: I like the rng system, I know if I reach 100% artisan my gear upgraded, but very good feeling when success before that.

I will take that you can’t understand my points and reject every possible reasons I provided because you are so stuck in your own little world you don’t even like someone else’s opinion that is not yours.

Because korea and ru and jp are to much of a hassle to play in and ping to high

I have played a lot of MMOs in my relatively short life, including those who have come and gone, and trust me when I say Lost Ark, especially for a free-to-play MMO, is far from the worst of them all.

But honestly, I do have a few specific reasons:

  • Real-Time Combat- The combat is insanely satisfying, to me, especially as someone coming from ESO, where it is not real-time combat. I know that there are others that do it better, but Lost Ark’s (at least against non-players), is like popping bubble-wrap for me.

  • The Story - I’m a giant lore-buff. I’m an absolute nerd. I’m a walking Elder-Scrolls encyclopedia and can go in-depth about many bioware and bethesda universes. I genuinely enjoy the story of Lost Ark and the fact that there is still content we are anticipating in a universe that is totally new to me… is pretty cool to me.

There are quite a few reasons, but these are the biggest ones. I have always been adamant that every MMO is not catered to every person. New World is catered to people who want an intense, community driven world that has a strong focus on war and PVP. ESO is catered to people who want that explorative, lore/story-driven experience that can be mostly experienced on their own. But at the end of the day, Lost Ark is still extremely new to the West and it’s going to have some growing pains.

Nice classes, love the skills, challenging raids and dungeons and the fact i can’t read/speak KR, JP, RU. So I will stay here hoping that it will get a better shape and Smilegate will care more for us and our butchered version.

My reasons for still keep playing:

  • i like the genre and didn’t expect something from the game that it wasn’t, like other people i saw that thought it would be comparable to diablo (just because of the camera angle)
  • i have fun with the games base mechanics (besides the upgrade system, but i know my bad luck, so i just take it slow anyways, since i can’t make it much faster with my fail rates)
  • i found a class i like to play
  • i’m able to not torture myself with playing the game as much as possible until i hit burnout levels
  • i have no issues with “wasting my rest bonus” when i don’t want to play a specific character or when i don’t want to play for some days at all
  • i will have another class i might like to play in the “distant future”
  • i know some of the stuff that is coming in the future (and if AGS delays it i just play less till those points) and i’m happy about most of the things that are not unscaled open pvp related
  • i like that i’m not much forced into social interactions, besides playing with strangers and making some calls
  • so far i enjoyed close to all the T3 guardians (i don’t like velganos, but i also like that besides one time, velganos is optional for the rest of the game)
  • i enjoy doing some chaos dungeons (not every day, but some days i just wanna do those repetitive tasks)
  • i enjoy doing argos all phases but don’t have the goal to do all phases every single week with all my characters (once i find a non-gatekeep group and i also like helping people with learning argos)… i don’t pay for busses and i don’t do paid busses
  • i enjoy doing valtan normal and hard mode (since it’s a nice little challenge and i can feel that i’m getting better at it)
  • i enjoyed some of the few tries that were not rushed against vykas phase 1 hard mode (and i have something to do in the future that is still a challenge for me)
  • i enjoy some super monotone stuff (that isn’t doing the adventure book, collecting mokoko seeds or doing the story) like gathering, fishing, etc. even if i wish it would be more complex (like in Black Desert for example, or to bring an older example like in Arche Age)
  • i like decorating my island and just staying there for a while from time to time
  • i like listening to pen and paper D&D games and some of the content in Lost Ark is perfect to do while not losing focus to what’s happening in the D&D game

Why i don’t play on other regions instead to get content and classes faster:

  • other versions are unavailable to me or in case of the russian version i hated it way to much to actually considering playing there (visible high ping all the time while the game tells me my ping is fine, issues finding stuff, game felt pretty dead and chatting was nearly impossible) and after the game came out in EU i have no reason to play there
  • i completely hated the programm exitlag, since it didn’t do what it promised, while also being terrible to uninstall and it felt like getting rid of malware
  • i hate the monetarisation in those other regions more, since there are even more gambling mechanics

I took a break from it
Was feeling drained by doing the same chores everyday on my 6 characters
