Anyway, I’ve presented my agrument, the logic is obvious. Ill leave you to draw your own conclusions.

Yeah i looked into the issue because i find that type of thing interesting. As a dev i like learning about this type of stuff but sure think what you like.
Tell me, why would i be advocating ending ip locks that would create more login competition on the west when bots are already free to log in lol. If anything id be taking your position.
I think the whole situation sucks in terms of VPN users that actually need to use it to play can’t anymore, and hopefully they can come out with a more permanent solution to this other than banning VPNs in general and this is just a stopgap measure. VPN (legitimate) users doesn’t harm people’s gameplay and they just want the same thing that we get, to play the game, and the more players wanting to play the game, the healthier it is for the game. That being said…
I don’t know if you were intentionally trying to misconstrue your words but thats not what a ToS is. ToS is a legal agreement between the end users and the company on a set of agreements. It’s a set of agreements that players agree to when they decide to play the game or use their product. The way you word it makes it sound like Amazon suddenly decided to add a no VPN clause to their ToS. They never changed their ToS, and never once stated that VPN was acceptable.
Again, you keep saying these “changes” but they never changed their ToS. VPNs were never allowed from the beginning, and every VPN player knew or should have known the risks before using it or investing time and money into the game as what they were doing was violating the ToS. Just as RMT and botting violates ToS, so does VPN usage. So does it make it unethical to ban people who RMT just because they too, also spent time and money into the game, but the RMT rule never got properly enforced until recently but was clearly stated in the ToS? Again, ToS never changed, the enforcement of it did, and those who used any VPNs should have known the risks of breaking the ToS.
Again, it sucks for all the legitimate VPN users that got screwed over by this, but claiming that it’s “unethical” for a company to enforce the policies that they set forth before you even started playing the game maybe should take a deep breath and focus more on making a more logical and appealing argument instead of bringing “ethics” into their argument and just spewing toxicity onto the forums about “Amazon just lost their business with me.” Out of those who say these things, I wonder how much money these people have actually spent on the game itself and how many people think that they are just entitled to the game.
Focus more on appealing to Amazon, rather than just spewing toxicity to Amazon if you want something changed, and stop creating false narratives to support bad faith arguments. I wish the best to VPN users and hope it gets reversed but the way you are going about it just makes people want to root against you.
That wasnt my intent but the fact is, if they wished to change the ToS in anyway they are free to do so. The ToS clearly states amazon have the right to amend ToS as they please and your continued use of the service is your agreement.
The change i was referring to however isn’t in the ToS but in the enforcement of that term.
I think you misunderstood my use of the word change. I didnt mean they rewrote the terms (which legally they can), i meant they changed their procedures around the enforcement of that rule, and after players have invested time and money into the game I’d argue, while totally legal (thanks to the ToS), is totally unethical.
Hope that clears up my position. As ethics are a philosophical issue, you are free to disagree with me but you won’t change my mind.
Also as a side note to clear up your confusion, I don’t access the game via VPN. Im from the UK.
That is unfortuanately the right they hold as it is their product. Theirs some videos you can find that explain ToS very well and that alot of people in the world do not understand them nor read them and that is a big issue as they can be used legally and once we accept them we can be held liable for the terms inside them if we do not follow. For instances a pretty drastic one but if they state that they have all rights to end the service at any given time for x reasons and they proceed to do so. Our money we spent will not come back. As we accepted the ToS that stated it.
Tldr ToS is shitty but be careful of what you accept in order to use a service.
I use a vpn to connect to a server in the US-W, while living in US-W because otherwise I get disconnected constantly to the point I cant even do a fucking chaos dungeon. The blanket VPN bans are actually fucking stupid.
You agree to the ToS when you start the game. In the ToS it says VPNs are prohibited. Cry all you want but theirs literally nothing you can do.
That’s not true at all, you can protest the change and show dissatisfaction in the hopes of overturning their decision. Don’t underestimate the power of protest.
Ill take advice from someone who knows the difference between there’s and theirs.
Just a typo. Don’t get upset with me bc you have shitty internet
I can guarantee my internet is better than you can afford. This is the only game I ever have any issues with connection and their OWN CMs told people to use VPNs to fix it. You’re just ignorant.
But we can buy all the popcorn so you get none.
Play nice or don’t play (as my Gran used to say, obviously not about Lost Ark ^^)
I’m gonna go ahead and echo this sentiment because there’s simply not enough logic on this forum and we need as much as we can get.
Just because it is HOSTED here (US), it doesn’t mean only US players can be on it. AGS acquired publishing rights to ~35 countries. ALL of those countries can access ALL the servers available to them through the Steam launcher.
I used to have a LoL account on EU-West to play with some of my Euro friends. Which I would do from time to time as it was only fair that I suffer from crap ping now and again when they did the same for me. Made for good fun and good times. And now? I have AU people in my guild. I’d hate to see them go because someone was like “NA ONLY get OUT!” (Though I’d totally understand if an OCE server went up with char migration and they decided to go there instead.)
Exactly. Im from the UK and access NA east for the same reason.
I specifically said any NA/EU players should be allowed to access either region, how ever if you come here and start claiming servers and being toxic to who the server was meant for then you should get out. Mostly OCE players in valtan legit trolling anyone who is an actual NA player.
Reminds me of the racists in the 80s, “Go back to your own country”. Miss me with that shit pls.
Lmao im native American and Mexican, I hear it all the time, comparing a video game to actual real life racism. Nice
Im not comapring it or even accusing you of it, just saying thats what it reminded me of and i didnt like it.
Just leaving this here…
Regarding Language-Preferred Servers
Community lead is not official servers, OCE players can stop being toxic in Valtan and they more than welcome.
