It’s not just that dungeon it’s also some other ones where you turn into some character and have to walk around at snail phase. The moment you get hit by ANYTHING it’s game over and woopty de doo you start ALL OVER AGAIN.
Can we please change this? Like for the love of god why people need to suffer over a story quest even further.
Also, the haunted island on the left side of the sea has this the WORST. It’s long and if you get hit by ANYTHING you know what happens…
Asking for checkpoints shouldn’t be asking for a lot. I think many in the community would appreciate this change. It’s not Amazon’s fault it’s the Koreans games fault. Thank you.
all stealth type missions like this should have checkpoints in them.
Metus island conceptually is one of my favorite parts of the game, but just due to it not having any checkpoints or anything and having some unpolished parts it ends up being the worst experience i’ve had in the game.
Metus Island made me ragequit the game, the first time I followed a guide and tried to collect everything. After the first death i tried to just rush through it with min effort.
Got trapped in the monastery with all 6 lamp charges and died because the lamp takes 12 years to activate and the range of the effect is about 3mm.
It certainly was the single worst experience for me in the game so far.
The countess mansion was another one that i failed 12x in a row. Doorways with walls blocking your view so as soon as you walk through the door you trip an alarm and die.
Or the pathing system getting confused by a corner and just getting stuck twitching back and forth.
Even being able to move the camera a bit would have helped and checkpoints would be a HUGE improvement.
It is also baffling that there are so many ways to fail in ways you can’t figure out and plan for.
You can pass through some NPCs but not others, so suddenly you path around them in some unpredictable way, often into the path of a guard.
There are invisible barriers that your character tries to path around. You can move between these two NPCs, but not these two, despite the same distance.
In the quest to rescue Madnick, you can politely ask some NPCs to move aside. One such NPC is blocking the way next to a guard post. He will move aside, leaving a gap to pass through, but surprise! there is an invisible barrier that makes you path into the nearby guard instead. I almost broke my keyboard when that happened.
On Serene Island, you have to enter the cells at 90 degrees, trying to sneak in along the wall will ping-pong you repeatedly back into the room. The debris from the roots holding the prisoner can also block you for precious seconds.
And please, PLEASE, make it “fail instantly on alerting the guards” instead of “fail after slowly being beaten to death with no option to do anything but grit your teeth and take it”. It will seriously cut down on my peripheral replacement budget.
Still no update after three months on these god-awful, game-spoiling quests and the need for some sort of checkpoint in them? The fact that there is more than one of these types of quest points to a severe lack of imagination or empathy on the game developers part!
But you are aware of the other work being done? I have no idea how anybody can fail Shadow Monastery and it’s not that long dungeon tbf, the only place where you could logically add checkpoint would be before fighting part starts.
No idea if that’s going to help anyone, but it’s better to click instead of holding mouse button to move, this way you will avoid obstacles/enemies much easier, especially in settings like metus island where you need to be more patient than usual and sometimes take some calculated risk by picking items while being chased at the same time. It’s not hard, it’s just different, remember that shadows are not goin to follow you for the whole time so you can skip majority of them, metus is optional content that rewards collectible so take it calm. But if people have such problems with walking straight to destination and avoiding something to the point of “almost breaking keyboard” then I have no idea what’s wrong with someone like this, only 100 crystals skip would help such person :V
the dog looks like he was going right so i went left, nope he adjusted his view last second inside the room and clipped me. i alt f4d the game. what a fucking waste of time
Based on what? On you believing that it’s the case? Act on what actually happens in game, not on what you believe that is going to happen.
Good, if you can’t get past content that gives you so much time to act on what’s going on your screen, then quitting will remove major barrier in progressing regular/hard content by every potential party that you’d be part of.
look man idk why your trying to argue. Im not saying this is difficult, its an annoying quest, its just bad, whats wrong with pointing that out. its irrelevant anyway.
I was in a room, the dog came in, i forgot the dogs pathing from the last time I did this quest months ago so as he was approaching his model was veering left, so i went right, his model then changed and went right and clipped me as I was passing him up against the wall. The safe spot was on the left. Noted.
You kind of went in on me pretty hard for no reason, who cares if I find some silly dumb quest bad, move on. This is a minor annoyance and gripe, how can you draw any parallel to how I feel about this to how I would be in progression content. I have done plenty of Mythic and Savage prog with a static, overcome a lot more than some silly shit quest lol. Your reaching dude its just an annoying quest.
you have me lost now. you seem to have a lot of animosity for people who enjoy other games. I cant imagine a casual player clearing savage content at ilvl, or mythic either, this isnt going anywhere though so ill sign off from this thread.
I can’t imagine any player clearing anything at all while having problems to move at walking speed and getting mad about it. It isn’t going anywhere just like you in the progress XD. Goodbye
It doesn’t help that it has a buggy cutscene that says “First time” instead of “can’t skip” that makes you watch it every time. There are a lot of tricks you learn about running it after doing it enough times and I made a guide on it after getting 100% there, but it was really frustrating. The mistranslated achievement is no fun (you have to collect lantern charges, not “torches”), several things exist only to mess with you (do NOT light red candles, do not bother going into the 1st room in the lower right for the quest, etc.), and getting some parts of the achievements requires walking to your doom (3rd journal entry seems to exist to kill you, but at least once you get it you can ignore it thereafter, too bad you have no time to appreciate the art and info on your enemies…).
