I hit tier 3, played 3 weeks or so, and several things came flooding into my brain as realizations.
If I wanted to actually continue playing “difficult” and “engaging” content, I would have to look for a guild, which this game doesn’t make very easy. If the guild route doesn’t work , you are stuck with pugs with barely any method of checking out who is actually capable of doing something. It’s basically trying to complete raid mechanics with a WoW LFR team.
Once you join a guild, you are set to be a person that has to follow SOME sort of expectations in terms of how well your character is progressing, or people won’t be willing to play with you.
Those EXPECTATIONS are set by the dev company, and amazon. As they have shown just recently, you CANNOT trust them to make these expectations reasonable in any way, shape or form.
If you want to keep up the pace with the “hardcore” and “semi-hardcore” players, and be able to play decently challenging (not mind numbing boring shit like chaos dungeons) content with people who have some braincells. You WILL have to play several alts, do the daily grind on each and every single on of them , OR pay with your wallets.
Even a popular youtuber and korean player that defend this game to the T, have already told stories of “feeling the need to pay” on the korean servers when some new raid released, and they were playing a class that’s maybe not on the forefront of the meta.
I am not going to grind content I don’t enjoy, do a fuckton of adventure tomes, press G 5 million times, just so Smilegate or Amazon can randomly decide that maybe the next content release will have an itemlevel I haven’t yet managed to get because I went for a 1 week holiday in the last couple of months.
Oh! And the amount of content in the game, and even in the korean game , is WAY overrated by people. This is not WoW guys, a new raid is not 10 bosses. Just because they are dangling a 1 boss encounter in front of our eyes as a carrot for the next 2 months of grind, doesn’t mean the content release schedule of the game is some sort of revolution.
Plus from what I have experienced so far, the raids themselves are not in any way shape or form more “fun” or any sort of revolution when compared with Final Fantasy or World of Warcraft content. If anything, the lack of interaction between teammates (no tab targeting) takes away from the whole thing.
I realized I prefer a more thought provoking boss design , with less “spastic” red circle dodging, and maybe more focus on how to maximize your character’s damage. Did I say damage?
You know why they don’t want you to see your actual damage on encounters? Because then it would be easier to see that Joe from accounting who swiped his card is doing 50% more damage than you are realistically capable of.
The whole game screams unbalanced, from the lack of visible damage in encounters, to all the LITERAL TRASH engravings they have filling up the AH and inventories…or the release schedule of classes.
Does anyone actually believe, you can release a new class every couple of months in an MMO , and have it be anywhere close to balanced in the long term? (well, I guess you can, if you have it be a carbon copy of something else with different spell effects)
I posted this on Reddit also, figured i’d post the link in case they delete this thread due to it being blatant criticism: https://www.reddit.com/r/MMORPG/comments/tiqqhj/why_i_decided_to_quit_lost_ark_after_having_3/
