Why RMT and Botting is at an all time high

RMT and Botting is a symbiotic and toxic relationship that has been massively negatively affecting the lost ark community. It’s quite simple really to find out why it’s never been this bad before though.

The power gap between a high spender vs hardcore “F2P” players, and casuals has never been greater. On top of peaking this week at 1546 item level, they also have full access to 5 Level 3 engravings and for the lucky ones, even 5 level 3 engravings and 1 level 1 engraving.

To get 5 level 3 engravings, you need legendary books. This high demand for legendary books from whales and also some very wealthy market flippers and hardcore players has resulted in a very expensive legendary book market (see below):

Unfortunately this has resulted in 99.99% of the playerbase being unable to compete not only through honing, but also engravings. Not only this, but players are pressured through matchmaking in party finder to have unreasonable levels of power for content they could easily clear with 3x3 engravings.

As a hardcore player myself It’s easy to see why people are pressured to RMT. You want to progress your main character, but you also don’t want to fall behind on your roster. Sure, you could grind all day on your alts and get tons of mats but if you want to make gold by selling those mats, it would come at the expense of your roster’s progression in general. So what answer to many people come to? RMT for a quick boost in gold to help supplement what you’re falling short in.

More demand for gold, more demand for bots to make and sell that gold, and the cycle continues.

It’s at an all time high because AGS openly stated they won’t permaban RMT’ers.

Which is why they must curb the demand. By issuing harsh punishments to RMTers and making it public. That way others are less likely to RMT, which will naturally curb bots.

Not only because they dont want to ban RMTers. If you nerf gold income and not provide enough mats to players. Then players are more keen to revert to RMT. It is supply and damand.

Easy now. They don’t want to “rule” like that.

It’s really obvious; AGS endorses RMT players in the current climate.

Amazon has made more money in me writing this than the total amount spent on Lost Ark in NA. Bezos could sneeze and cover the write-off for the chargebacks that would happen if RMTers who spent cash on Royal Crystals were ban hammered.

If ags perma banned rmt and put the fear of God in the rest. People would maybe uhm I dunno, buy gold from ags? This is just new world all over again. Rest in pieces.

Haven’t seen that statement but regardless of that, their actions clearly speak for themselves.

It is unfathomable to me to have an online game where rmters aren’t permabanned.

The fuck happened for this shift to take place, other than complete incompetence of Amazon?

I saw some video where a youtuber interviewed some Lost Ark whale at the time argos was released. He showed off his gear he was item lvl 1430, 3333 engravings and lvl 7 gems. When asked how much he spent on the game he said somewhere between $10-14000.

Now 1.5 month has passed and I’ve got 5 alts that although are not the same ilvl but are equally well geared and it didn’t cost me anything just sold mats for a while.

I completely agree though that RMT-ers should be banned and the economy is in shambles because of them but sooner or later they will be geared and new content comes out so they will just move on and ruin some other segment of the market so then prices should normalize and you will have the chance to gear your toon the way you want way cheaper than now. Be patient and GL

I literally tried explaining this to MinerTarv over the weekend when he was engaging with me directly and it just seems to go over thier head, like they still cant grasp that botting is just a symptom of a larger illness.

Unless they address WHY so many players feel they HAVE to buy it, and in INSANE amounts to keep pace with this toxic mess of cheaters, these swipers gatekeeping just has some weird sway over people, like they have to join those groups.

Your argument reflects exactly why RMT and botting is so popular right now. You’re literally saying that the economy will only be “ok” for those that are left behind. So on one hand you have the players that get forced to spend more to keep up with content and on the other (if players want a “normalized” economy) they have to stay behind.
So only whales or RMTers get to enjoy the content on release. That’s what you’re saying, right?

For some reason it seems like you’re ok with it. But, imo, NEVER a game should force players, even those (especially those) that play over 10h a day to be left behind just so they can have a normal game state.

It’s partially on the company yes. Releasing content thats can be reasonably accessed by an active community is important, but it’s also on the players themselves to have realistic expectations. Whales are gonna whale regardless of third party RMT or not, as long as content is released that is within striking distance of a dedicated F2P audience to engage in day 1, players shouldnt be feeling pressured or left out to getting there any faster.

If a streamer says “Vykiss can be done with 3x3 legendary accessories at ilvl, but I wont accept that person who applies”; the community who is actively playing in our region needs to have the awareness to understand that such a comment or sentiment isn’t reasonable. They shouldn’t adopt this mentality for their parties because it’s unreasonable. That the fact it’s doable is reason enough for players to have earned to chance to engage in that content and that mechanics exists within those contents to allow them to clear and obtain rewards. Preference for efficiency should be discerned from necessity. We aren’t KR, most players do not have a rosters worth of toons to do legion raids on all week, most have a main while the rest are sitting on Argos.

The games been out for only 4 months in our region, people need to cut themselves and their peers some slack and allow the region as a whole to develop up to a higher standard if thats what is desired. We can sit and debate about “but whales will advocate for efficiency and people are lemmings”. Yeah we could argue that angle all day long but it’s mere deflection. The fact of the matter is the only thing gating you from content in this game is ilvl, it’s up to the community to decide whats acceptable and what is not. It isnt reasonable for our region to be efficient by any means unless you have the means to pay for that efficiency. Most will have to accept that their parties will have a significant degree of failure or inconvenience, whether that be bare minimum engravings, gear, inexperienced players or even no supports. The region has to get good before we can worry about being over geared. The community can create a better culture and environment for ourselves despite business practices we disagree with.

I think the difference in this game an new world is it has 3 years of successful development and another company designs and works on it, its also a good game and new world was not. this game wont die and ill play it even if im the last player with 800k bhsfdrjrrrs in my parties.

Yes, that’s what I’m saying. Just because you have let’s say 10 000 players ready to enjoy new content doesn’t mean there’s 200 000 legendary grudge books available in the game for them to go 33333 with the best DPS engraving in the game. So you will end up with something precious that is rare with a high demand for it what do you think will happen?

You can play as many hours as you want you know but if you are trying to play catch up with people who are willing to spend thousands of dollars you are just going to just feel disappointed. I’m ok with it. I started the game 3 weeks after release and was not able to do argos week 1. I was able to do valtan week 1 and it sucked doing it with randoms. I will be able to do vykas week 1 and I’m not looking forward to pugging it at all. I don’t know what exactly is so good in wiping for hours when new content comes out? If you are doing it with friends maybe but I don’t know man. I enjoy much more doing every raid now that people know the mechs.

That’s not at all what I said. What I said is that it isn’t at all a good thing that even players that spend 10h playing per day are being left behind. It’s not about catching up, it’s about being able to do content on release.
I myself have been very unlucky with honings and even playing 8-12h a day I wasn’t able to do Argos on the first two weeks or Valtan on the first, while some people were already 1490 just as an example.
And I bet with you that 90% of them were RMTing.

Now, I really don’t care much about other players being higher iLvl than me or whatever. I already expected that to happen considering the design of the game. But again:
NEVER a game should force dedicated/hardcore players to be left behind.

You go talk about p2w in Lost Ark and some people would say (months ago) that “some people pay to progress while others put in the time”. This is not the case anymore. You can play how much you want, it still won’t guarantee you’ll be able to play all of the content

Well, can you explain to me wtf are you doing in Lost Ark for 10 hours? I have 6 characters and if I don’t just do everything rested it takes me about 3-4 hours to do everything that should be done. After that I can go play some pvp or log off and get on with my life. If you want to do content on release day so badly and are willing to sacrifice 10 hours of your life daily you may be better off just taking a second job and whaling it lol. It’s literally the case of the mentally ill trying to compete with another group of mentally ill people.

Nobody is being “left behind”. The people who don’t whale will complete content and challenges within the timeframe it was intended. Patience will get you much further in this game then FOMOing too hard and grinding everyday until your eyes turn red. Just chill and find better things to do to fill that void.

what players that are investing 10 hrs a day are being left behind? l play a lot and l’m clown ready before vykas is even out. stop logging on and collecting mokokos lmfao

my weapon was minimum 80% artisan from +12 to +20, went through before pity 2? times. armors from 15-19 l got lucky on 2 single hones, shoulders and gloves for 16 → 17 on both of them was <10 hits. every other +1 was at least 60% artisan but usually closer to 100%
