In a way, they did have no other choice. You can not have high chargeback rates and be used as a vehicle for fraud.
The system will likely improve with known “good” customers getting the gold instantly in the future.

No it won’t. Maybe to a certain degree, but in general it won’t, for the whales that constantly max out their limit everyday. But majority of purchases here (from whales and non whales) are impulse buys for one of several things:

If I want to rage hone or push now, I need the cash now, not in 3 days. I might actually hit my target by just farming and waiting 3 days. -
AH bids
Hah… that item is gone. -
Marketplace purchases
Those items are gone.

If f2p is floating enough raw gold to do these things ahead of time why would someone swiping not be floating the gold?
The defective pattern here is not having enough resources to do the thing you’re trying to do.
I understand the company wants to take advantage of people with poor impulse control & planning and profit from it, but they made a change that doesn’t allow them to do that effectively.
