you can play f2p as long as you want but you have like lv60 cap instead of 80 or something, you have some limitations, he is making a joke about how it’s similar with lost ark

make sure you’re playing the free trial to lv60 not the 30 days no subscription thingy, also once you buy the game and pay for the subscription you cant go back to being f2p lv60 capped.
anyway hope you have fun, try guildwars 2 too they have the same f2p model but the difference is that there’s no mandatory subscription when you buy it
I have tried GW2, and it wasn’t for me unfortunately. I’ll take your advice and be careful which way I start the game. When you say that after getting a sub you can’t go back to the f2p lv60 cap, do you lose access to the content beyond the lv60 cap? for ex, let’s say I hit lvl 80 and can do a certain dungeon that’s for lv80, will I no longer be able to run it without the sub?
no, i meant that if you sub once you’re a subber for life, you cant access the game anymore without the sub, nothing in game change except that you cant play if you dont pay for that month you wanna play, the other changes are QOL changes that put limits on f2p players but that’s it
You get north vern passes, which doesn’t really do anything for a beginner. Unless you expect them to play three t1 characters from the get go.
I heard that in KR 1370 honing buffs were added only when brelshaza raid dropped, and thats kinda far still.
I also do my chaos with no problem, but only if i make a second skill preset for it. Which was mentioned in my previous comment.
You don’t “need” gold yet it hold most of the cool things you can buy. Also it will take a long while before you can even fund your first cristalline aura

Trial is unlimited. You can reach lv60 and finish Heavensward (patches 3.X, the first expact of Realm Reborn) and still continue playing for free and switching jobs all you want. You won’t be able to access Stormblood (4.0) and beyond (and the jobs & content tied to the later expacs), that’s all.

The t1 and t2 wall was deleted by Smilegate in KR eventually with the South Vern payable pass, but I’m sure a large majority would complain about having to pay for a boost which is why AGS is hesitant to begin with for payable solutions I personally only buy cosmetics, but I sure would buy a pass or two for a couple alts if I could.
I believe amazon has no say in anything and smilegate doesnt give 2 shits about us. Theyre completely detached from anything going on here and only have amazons word of mouth. Amazon surely isnt going to admit or care that theyve completely fucked over the vast majority of players, because they are walking a tight rope of trying to appease stockholders with (fake)high player count numbers and still make money(the 2 are counter to each other since the high player count is bots and bots steal their income). Ban bots or keep them and squeeze the life out of the last remaining honest players? I think we know which theyve chosen.
Smilezon wanted to released a 5x sped up release schedule with 1x progression rate. All theyve done with this is piss most people off, encourage botting and RMT, and ruin the game in the process. Lost ark is supposed to be a casual game, but its been turned into an extreme elitist hell
Once you reach T3 there are buffs to honing for T1 and T2, for the alts.
With the login rewards and doing just chaos dungeons you should already be T3.
The buffs dont help as much as youd think. We are still extremely gated by leapstones, stones, and shards at the end of t2 plus fail rate. They should have a 50% mat cost cut buff or something, or make shards accountwide
With the stronghold buff it should only take a couple weeks to get to t3 and t2 mats are extremely cheap rn.

I don’t do una tasks, I hardly do guardian raids, I’ve basically only done story content it forces, chaos dungeons, cube, and boss rush. But I’m sitting on a bunch of those tickets too.
I donate silver and research to a guild. No gold, rarely even do any weekly, including chaos and guardians.
I only have 2 Alts. My starting character that’s in almost 600 in T1. And a feiton power pass Zerker that’s 1100 or so.
I’m sitting on loads of mats. And the express event I used on the Paladin when they were almost T3. So I basically wasted it. And I haven’t done much of the abyssal stuff. I’ve done Tower on one guy and stopped somewhere halfway in T2.
I haven’t even used another power pass, and I’ve done 0 knowledge transfers.
I have a ton of mats, battle items, and crystalized auras, all from just logging in and claiming. 0 effort beyond what I’ve described.
I’ve only recently even started doing stronghold stuff…
I’m playing the least optimal way aside from claiming login rewards.
If you complain about not having support just play it yourself, otherwise play without them
ffxiv is not f2p, you can only play till the end of the first expansion and once you buy a sub you will have to buy a sub every month no matter what expansion u in.
you also have alot of limits as a free player like not being able to invite players in party.
You do know people made it to tier 2 on day without spending a penny and without all these nice events right?
